Take a paragraph of an English text of your own choice and circle the lexical
verbs. (Your paragraph should be long enough to contain at least 10 verbs). Then
label them as, for instance, intransitive, transitive, ... (see Table 5.3 on page 96 for
a list).
2.
Take the first paragraph of the text on p. 59 and label all the words. Are some
challenging? If so, which ones and why?
3.
Try to draw a tree for the first sentence in the text on p. 98:
`The organization provides a number of instances of the failure of justice in this
report.’
The tree should show what the PPs modify.
