GP Shared Care – Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria Director of Obstetrics: Telephone Number: Mr Paul Davey 03 5320 4000 (please ask switch to page) Booking Inclusion Criteria: GP is a BHS shared maternity affiliate Women requests shared antenatal care Parity < 5 Body Mass Index (BMI) >17 and <35 at booking Age: <42 years at booking Women need to be assessed by BHS specialist obstetrician before they can be confirmed for ongoing GP – shared pregnancy care. Booking Exclusion Criteria: Patients will be assigned a risk category by considering their previous medical or obstetric history an current medical condition. The assessment is performed by the Maternity team. The patient should default to the high risk category allotment if there is any uncertainty. During th pregnancy the category risk may change if clinical developments dictate. Category changes should on occur after reassessment at Specialist consultation. Medical/Surgical: Alcohol abuse Anaemia (Hb<90g/l not responding to treatment) Severe Asthma Autoimmune disorders (including antiphospholipid antibodies) Bleeding disorders and/or haemolytic disease BMI>35 Cardiac disease Diabetes Mellitus, types I and II Drug abuse Endocrine disorders Epilepsy requiring drug therapy in the past 12 months Gastroenterological disorders (subject to obstetric review) Major Haemoglobinopathies HIV Hypertension Infectious diseases of clinical significance (eg acute onset Hep C) Neurological disorders Psychiatric illness (subject to psychiatric advice) Renal disease Respiratory disease Thrombo-embolic disease Thyroid disease (uncontrolled) Obstetric/Gynaecological: Absence of antenatal care in a woman who is 28 weeks gestation or more at first presentation Antepartum haemorrhage (subject to obstetric review) Birth weight <2500gms or >4500gms (previous baby) Foetal abnormality requiring specialised care Grand multiparity >5 Intrauterine Growth Restriction (IUGR) in last pregnancy Multiple pregnancy Recurrent Miscarriage x 3 Recurrent mid trimester loss x 2 Rhesus Isoimmunisation or other significant blood group antibodies Severe Pre-Eclampsia (PE) in previous pregnancy Still birth or neonatal death Please note:-Certain clinical situations may allow for variations to these criteria and the patient’s status will require further discussion with the Obstetric Director or Registrar on a case by case basis.
