Project Title:
Stock Pattern Search and Mining (III): Time Series Data Mining Application Program Interface
Toolkit
Project Area Code (may be more than one code that best describes the technical area of the proposal):
8,15,18,19
Project Description (about 5 to 10 lines):
Technical patterns, e.g., head-and-shoulders and double top, have long been used by the financial
analysts in various charting tasks. In view of the popularity of financial web sites and the expectation
from them to provide more self-control data analysis tools, facilitating knowledge discovery of
interesting behavior and relationship within a time series or among a set of time series become
important. Such a potential feature of the financial web sites has indeed posed certain challenges. In
this project, we aim at developing a versatile and yet effective technical pattern based stock timeseries data analysis, searching and mining system. This is a large-scale project and different students
will be responsible for different aspects of the system. The aim of this part (III) is to research and
develop an API which includes those fundamental time series data mining techniques. The
student should demonstrate the usage of the developed API by implementing a time series data
mining application.
Knowledge/Skills/Tools Required (no more than 10 keywords):
