COWS WITH CALVES AT FOOT – 147
A marvellous entry on offer today with plenty of nice bred good farming sorts with decent
health status, the ring was packed to capacity and an outstanding trade prevailed and on a
very positive note not one cow went to kill, many should think and indeed worry about the
number of cows (many of which are very young) that have been killed in the past twelve
months this I feel is a major worry for the throughput of us all and ultimately the shortage of
a sustainable British product on themselves and indeed the crunch coming when certain
Supermarkets turn round and say they will need to import beef as they can’t source it at home
– and in particular now that they have been found out with regard to the horse meat fiasco!!

Again another tremendous day for Newark Saturday Market, record entries of sheep and
tremendous entry of Farmers, Store and Breeding cattle. We don’t just sell stock – we market
it, present it and then sell and most importantly we PAY FOR IT ALL, whether Store or
Finished on the day!! – More and more stock are attracted to Newark each week because
producers know we have buyers (the buyers like and respect our terms) which are the same
for everyone. We have the customers for stock from the worst to the best – and they know
they can go home with a good sale cheque, this is why this Saturday market flourishes Sale
after Sale and the other so called Saturday Store Centre continues to boast about what it
hasn’t got and continues to pay its vendors some time later!! And the Monday centre in the
Midlands offer extended terms to some of its buyers but not others and they can’t pay on the
day either – PLEASE YOU GUYS IF YOU REALLY MEAN IT PAY ON THE DAY
AND RUN THE BAD GUYS OUT OF TOWN!!

Spring Lamb SQQ 222.90p/kg – Overall Average 222.78p/kg
No shortage of Lambs due to Lincolnshire Show and if there had been No Show we would
have had 1200+.
It’s nice see the Centre to the South of us yesterday boasted an increased SQQ to 213p/kg
significantly dearer than other outlets!! Look at ours 10p dearer than yours, and the others
held in the Midlands on a Monday and Tuesday, and ours INCLUDES EVERY LAMB, we did
have a couple of runs of leaner lambs that are in the SQQ, if we took them out it would have
been 230p+. Oh and another thing if you insist on touting for stock via text again ensure the
information that you contain within your message is accurate…… Don’t be fooled…. To
discuss REAL MARKETING ADVICE – CALL MY NUMBERS! Or Leave me a message!!
Please note we will be holding a Ballot within the 1st 50 pens of Lambs on a Weekly Basis!
Just a handful of hogs this week selling to £60 for Texels from Messrs Rose & Son, 148p/kg
