Jana MOJŽIŠOVÁ is professor at the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice, Slovakia. She graduated in 1986 in General Veterinary Medicine study branch at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Košice, Slovakia and obtained the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree. Then she worked as a researcher at the Department of Infectology and Tropical Veterinary Medicine. Her PhD thesis was focused on the effect of immunomodulation substances in some infectious and parasitic diseases of animals. She obtained her PhD. degree in infectious and parasitic diseases in 1997 at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Košice, Slovakia. During the PhD study she started to teach epizootiology and infectious diseases. Her associate professor habilitation was defended in 2003 and in 2007 she was appointed as professor of infectious and parasitic diseases. She was Head of Department of Epizootiology and Preventive Veterinary Medicine at UVMPh in Košice. Her pedagogical work includes: a guarantor of 2 subjects taught in Slovak and 2 subjects taught in English in the first and the combined first and second level of higher education; a guarantor of a study branch and a study programme in the third level of higher education, a tutor of PhD students, the chairman of the Commission for State Final Examinations in 2 subjects (taught in Slovak and English), a member of the Commission for State Final Examinations in 2 subjects (taught in Slovak and English), the chairman of the Commission for defence of dissertation theses in the study branch Infectious and Parasitic Animal Diseases, a member of the Commission for defence of dissertation theses in the study branch Microbiology. Her scientific and research work is focused on viral animal diseases and their diagnostics, prevention and suppression as well as viral animal diseases connected with impaired immunocompetence and possibilities of their therapy and prophylaxis. She has participated in a number of nationally funded projects both as the project leader and a team member. More than 150 articles as well as several monographs and books have been published as a result of her research activity, Prof. Mojžišová has been Vice-Rector for Education and Study Affairs since 2007. She is a member of the scientific council of the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice. In 2010 she was elected as the Secretary General of the Association of the Carpathian Region Universities (ACRU).
