Canada West Veterinary Specialists is a full service veterinary hospital providing specialist veterinary care
in Metro Vancouver. Our hospital functions similar to a large full-service human hospital. We accept
referrals from family veterinarians based throughout British Columbia, Washington State, Alaska, and the
Yukon. We have several departments and a large team of veterinary specialists and are a fully equipped,
17,000 sq. ft. facility (64 slice CT, MRI, 2 radiology suites, 2 ultrasound suites, endoscopy, fluoroscopy,
laser lithotripsy).
Our primary goal is to provide optimal medical, surgical, and rehabilitation support and care to our
patients, fostering the bonds between owners and their pets and between ourselves and our referring
clinicians.
Job Title: Veterinary Internist
Location: Vancouver, B.C
Term of Employment: 2 years
Description:
Our internal medicine department seeks a qualified and experienced internal medicine specialist
competent to do the following:
 Provide expertise and experience in performing standard endoscopic procedures including, but
not limited to, rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy, gastroscopy, cystoscopy, etc.
 Develop our minimally invasive surgery service with expertise in lithotriptic destruction of cystic
calculi, laser-based ectopic ureter surgery and tracheal stenting.
 Provide expertise in respiratory medicine in order to maximize our utilization of a new 64-slice
CT scanner for imaging of the respiratory system.
Required Skills:




Excellent verbal and written English language skills, especially to a diverse range of audiences
and settings.
The ability to make decisions, delegate responsibility and achieve results with hospital team
members.
Professional comportment and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly,
positive attitude.
Willingness to be on call to provide continuity of care 7 days a week for the internal medicine
department.
Education and Credentials:



Doctorate of Veterinarian Medicine.
Minimum of 2 yrs. clinical experience post residency.
Individuals must be board-certified or have credentials accepted and actively pursuing writing
the certifying examinations.
Salary & Benefits:
 Base salary of $100,000 CDN per annum plus 23% on production.
 2 weeks’ vacation
