SPEED CRACKDOWN TARGETS GA HWY11 WHAT: WHEN: WHERE: WHO: WHY: Summer HEAT Enforcement Patrols Target Northeast Georgia Friday, July 09, 2004 from 2pm to 8pm Northeast Georgia law enforcement agencies will focus Speed Enforcement Patrols on GA HWY 11/US 129 in Hall and Jackson Counties. Traffic Enforcement Units from NETEN, the Northeast Traffic Enforcement Network, including Hall and Jackson County Sheriff’s Departments; City Police agencies from Arcade, Gainesville, Jefferson and Pendergrass; Georgia State Troopers, DMVS Enforcement Officers, DNR Rangers, and DOC canine unit. ..Because Summer is the deadliest driving time on Georgia highways. ENFORCEMENT ACTIVITY (Atlanta) Today the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety announced another day-long crack-down against speeders on secondary corridors across the state. Local law enforcement agencies in Northeast Georgia are turning up the HEAT, targeting drivers who tailgate, run red-lights, make illegal lane changes, or display other high-speed bad-driving habits. LIFE-SAVING GOALS “One of our goals is to modify the bad behavior of any driver who thinks they can’t be stopped unless they’re hitting speeds of eighty or better,” said GOHS Director Bob Dallas. “Latest data shows unsafe and illegal speed rank among the top three causes of fatality crashes in Georgia.
