Grade 10D Canadian History - 1920s/30s SUMMATIVE ASSIGNMENT
COMPARE & CONTRAST A FAMILY SITUATION
LEARNING GOALS
(CONTINUITY & CHANGE)
Students will…
Explain how life continued to be the same from the 1920s to the 1930s
Explain how life changed from the 1920s to the 1930s
Identify key aspects of life in the 1920s and the 1930s
Students will either (1) use a real life family from the time period, or
(2) create a fictional family for this project.
Students will compare life in the 1920s to life in the 1930s through the perspective of the
family’s experience in both decades. Students will compare the changes seen in one of the
following categories:




Culture (eg. fashion & entertainment)
Technology (eg. transportation)
Politics (eg. Party platforms, responses)
Economics (eg. Finances, employment)
The project could be constructed in a number of ways:
(1) A report style booklet, where compare/contrast items are presented in
chapters, page by page
(2) A Bristol board/presentation board, where compare/contrast items are
presented side-by-side
