She will be sadly missed by all in Newark and our deepest sympathy is expressed to
Brian and the Cummings Family at this extremely sad time

CULL COWS AND OTMS – 116 averaged 138.40 or £935.43
A similar entry of OTMS on offer today, however quality very thin on the ground with very
few top end sorts on offer.
Without doubt there is a seasonal glut of cows nationally at the moment and trade is
definitely easier.
Although today’s trade was less, it would still be very respectable against deadweight
quotations and other centres returns.
Top cow today was consigned by Louise and David Todd who sold Bazadaise to 167.5p £1189.25.
Roland Appleby, Louth sold Limousins to 159.5p (twice) £1374.89 and £1129.26, Brian Wain
sold Limousins to 158.5p – £1152.30. Barrie Ablewhite sold Limousins to 158.5p - £1256.91.
Today as previously mentioned very few better quality sorts, however those forward sold
from 145p.
More wasteful and older types sold from 134-139p and very plain beef bred sorts 116-125p.
Black and whites very much in demand with better fed sorts 128-138p and ex-parlour older
cows 114-120p with extreme horrors 80-100p.
OTM clean cattle were also lacking quality today.
Trade however, very similar on the week and still looking exceptionally well sold.
Top today was a Simmental steer from Shoby Priory which sold at 207.5p - £1259.53.
Peter Dunn sold Charolais heifers to 206.5p - £1676.78.
Stock Bulls sold well with Robert Hutchinson selling Limousins to £1521.10.
Any cattle with CTS Forms MUST have a green passport attached if you have
lost this please apply to BCMS for a replacement BEFORE you bring the cattle
to market

They always say never follow a ‘Good Trade’!?! Today we would have a vast improvement
in numbers and quality of lambs, but not the spark in trade that we saw last week. Trade
this week has been anywhere from 155 to 170ish so our returning SQQ would be very in line
but a little disappointing
