Volunteer community heritage officers Do you enjoy helping people learn and discover new things? Could you help tell the story of an historic ‘Handel’ organ to groups of children, families and adults in Gosport? Holy Trinity Church in Gosport houses the 18th century organ, recently restored thanks, largely, to the Heritage Lottery Fund. The church is looking for volunteers to help run school workshops and public events from May 2013 onwards, supporting visitors to enjoy and experience the organ through hands-on activities. Tasks might include: Meeting and greeting school children and other groups, setting up for school workshops and public events Talking to groups about the story of the organ and about life at Holy Trinity in the past Introducing activities and giving demonstrations, helping visitors to operate simple equipment and make models As this is a new project, the church anticipates that demand for workshops and activities will grow over a period of time. Opportunities to volunteer may arise during the school day, at weekends and school holidays or in the evenings so there is flexibility to get involved at times that suit you. No musical knowledge is required, just an interest in working with people, particularly children and families.
