During the period August, 2005-July, 2009 I made several
achievements targeted towards the improvement of camel health,
breeds and production:
Training of the national cadre.
Rehabilitation of research laboratories and construction of a camel
clinic.
Purchased the most modern equipment for research and diagnosis of
camel diseases and camel milk production.
Established an extension and communication unit in the Camel and
Range Research Centre.

 I refereed the scientific work of (19) members of staff from different
Universities and Research Institutes inside and outside the Sudan for
the promotion to the status of Professor and Associate Professor.
 I refereed and revised (31) scientific papers submitted for publication
in the different journals inside and outside the Sudan.
 I evaluated (48) research proposals submitted for funding by the
International Foundation for Science (IFS), King Abdulaziz City for
Science and Technology (KACST) and the Sudan National Council for
Research.

I am the first Sudanese Scientist awarded the prize of Abdel Hamid
Showman (Arab Bank-Jordan) for the best young scientist in the Arab World
in Agricultural and Biological Sciences for the year 1982.

Feasibility Studies:


Conducted with other colleagues an extensive feasibility study using
agricultural by-products for the fattening of camels and sheep in
mechanized agricultural schemes in Eastern Sudan.
Conducted many feasibility studies during my work as consultant for
Al-Raja agricultural project.

Sabbatical Leave:
1st July 1987 to 30th March 1988 awarded Fulbright Senior Scholarship
on study leave of absence- affiliated to the Centers for Disease Control
(C.D.C.), Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A., conducting research on the
Development of Murine Model for Pulmonary Infection with Histoplasma
capsulatum and Laboratory Research in Immunochemistry of Fungal
Antigens.
Administration:












Established a diagnostic and research laboratory for Veterinary
Mycology and Dermatology in the Department of Veterinary Clinical
Studies, Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Khartoum.
Initiated and supervised the maintenance of the Department of Clinical
Studies and the Veterinary Clinic.
Visualizing the urgent need of the Department for more offices and
laboratories, I undertook to prepare the necessary plans and made the
follow up for execution.
Improved the Veterinary Clinic affiliated to the Department and
increased its efficiency for treatment and teaching purposes.
Adviser to the Student Veterinary Association November 1978December 1979.

Introduced drastic improvement in the buildings and administration of
the Department and Veterinary Clinic.
Repaired old equipment and purchased new ones and chemicals to
improve the efficiency of the Department laboratories. Purchased
Veterinary drugs and equipment to improve the efficiency of the
Veterinary Clinic.

Unanimously elected by the Members of the Faculty Board to represent
the Faculty of Veterinary Science in the Board of Directors of Soba
Teaching Hospital and the Staff Housing Affairs Committee.
May-June 1987 appointed Acting Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science,
and for short periods thereafter.
Chairman of the Faculty and Faculty Research Boards, Member of
Senate and University Council.
Visualizing the need for more members of staff, I pursued the matter,
which ended in the appointment of four Lecturers and four Teaching
Assistants.
July 1989-July 1992, supervised the execution of the new buildings of
the Department and the Veterinary Hospital. The estimate cost of this
project was 150 million Sudanese Pounds and was a joint venture
supported by the USAID and the Ministry of Planning.
Participated in revising the Curriculum of the Faculty of Veterinary
Science in the Universities of Khartoum and Darfur.
Member of the Board of Directors of the University of Khartoum farm,
1987-1992.
Appointed Chairman of the Committee for the revision of the
regulations governing the registration for higher degrees (M.V.Sc. &
PhD.) by the Faculty Board of Veterinary Sciences.
March 1997-February 1998, appointed Director of the Camel Research
Centre, Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Khartoum.
February 1998-July 2004: Responsible for all administrative and
technical work related to camel health in the Directorate General of

Conducted several field surveys for diseases in the different animal
species especially cattle and camels.
Found and introduced new clinical and laboratory techniques for the
diagnosis, treatment and prevention of animal diseases:A new skin biopsy technique.
A new technique for the isolation of Sarcoptes scabiei and another for
the isolation of Demodex bovis and D. ghanensis from infected
material.
A new technique for the isolation of Dermatophilus congolensis
organism.
Introduced amendments in the life cycles of Dermatophilus congolensis
and Demodex bovis and the epizootiology of the disease caused by
these organisms.

Veterinary Extension:

Published a series of articles in Arabic language in El-Sahafa and ElIsboua News Papers (Scientific page) and gave many Lectures to
enlighten animal owners, breeders, skin and hide merchants, exporters
and tanners, leather technicians, chemists, manufacturers, veterinarians
and economists on the deleterious effects and economic losses resulting
from damage on crust leather produced by skin and hide diseases
prevalent in the Sudan.
 Held a series of seminars and workshops, and gave a series of public
lectures on the following:
 Studies on Sarcoptic Mange in the One-humped Camel.
 Studies on the Processing of Camel Hides and the Manufacture of
Leather Goods from the Prepared Crust leather.

Losses on Crust Leather Resulting from Damage Caused by the
