MA: Instruction and Curriculum -Bilingual/Bicultural EMSE 5810 – Systematic Field Experience and Observation of Bilingual /Multicultural Classrooms SUMMARY OF CLASSROOM OBSERVATIONS The Summary of Classroom Observation is a term paper submitted by students in the Master’s Program of Instruction and Curriculum-Bilingual Education at the end of the course EMSE 5810. This is accompanied by a power point and a presentation in front of peers. The Summary of Classroom Observations is the culmination of four bilingual and ESL classroom observations performed by the students. The instrument utilized for the observations and used as the basis for the summary is developed by students working in groups and inspired in the domains of Charlotte Danielson’s model of instruction. After each observation, students summarized their notes in two typewritten pages that are submitted to the professor alongside the protocol used for the observation and the notes they made on it. Following the four observations, students go through the materials they have collected, make notes, analyze them and write the Summary of Classroom Observations. The paper includes the analysis of the four observations, contrasts and comparisons, reflections and pertinent references from peer-reviewed articles and professional books.
