Three-hour classes (alphabetical by title)
Bling Basket
#911W
Description: Participants will create a small,
hand woven basket with a wood base. It
measures approximately 6” in diameter and 3”
in height. Students will be provided with a variety
of choices for embellishments.
Make It / Take It
Kit fee: $10. Includes basket reed in various
sizes, embellishments such as buttons, beads, and
yarn, and a round, wood base.
Special supplies: Students should bring a
kitchen shears, old towel, flathead screwdriver,
and wooden clothespins. (A limited supply will
be available if students do not have them.)
Optional – Buttons, beads, and scraps of favorite
yarn in lengths of 12 inches or more. Knubby or
chunky work best; variegated is great.
Instructor: Laura Weber
Laura is a fiber artist focusing in the area of
functional or sculptural basketry. Laura first learned
the craft from others who taught her the techniques
and further developed her skills in classes taught by
accomplished basket artists. Laura works out of her
studio at the Pink Llama Gallery in Cedarburg. Her
baskets are for sale there as well as the Arts Mill in
Grafton and the Museum of Wisconsin Art Gift Shop
in West Bend. Laura is an active member of the
Cedarburg Spur of the Midwest Fiber Arts Trail.
Decorative Crocheted Edgings

Description: Pretty crocheted edgings on blouses,
pillowcases, scarves, baby blankets and the like
are a wonderful finishing touch to your creations.
Learn how to prepare a piece for a crocheted edge
and an easy technique for a lacy hanky edging.
During the class, you will work on a handkerchief
to take home.
Make It / Take It
Kit fee: $10. Includes a pattern, crochet hook, yarn/
thread for the project, and a handkerchief.
Instructor: Jim Kennedy
Jim is a fiber artist who began crocheting many years
ago. He has also completed projects in embroidery,
quilting, knitting and needle punch.
Embellished Silk Ornaments

Description: In this beginner level class, you will learn
to make small, silk ornaments embellished with
imported sequins and beads. You will gain an
appreciation for expertly curated embellishments and
will leave with one more tool in your creative tool kit.
Make It / Take It
Kit fee - $10. Includes ornament form, silk, batting,
sequins, beads, threads, and a beading needle.
Special supplies: Bring a small, sharp scissors.
Instructor: Sue Wojciechowski
At the age of nine, Sue began sewing in her mother’s
kitchen where the sewing machine was just as
important and useful as the stove or refrigerator. Her
love of quilting began in 1999. The next year she
received her first blue ribbon for quilting at the
Wisconsin State Fair. Her first wool quilt “Winter
Garden” won a ribbon for appliqué in Houston at the
IQA show in 2004. Fifteen years later, she has received
numerous awards – local, regional and national. In
2012, Sue founded Ewe-niversity, Inc. where her
passion for teaching and design intersect with her
endless pursuit of exquisite fabrics, beads and other
embellishments.
Hand-Painted Silk Scarf

Description: Beginners and intermediate silk painters
will have the opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind,
hand-painted silk scarf. Students will learn about silk,
its properties, and practice moving color from brush to
fiber. You will also learn about using various guttas,
resists, and manipulation techniques to obtain stunning
results. Silk is a wonderful fiber with a personality all of
its own that adds to the charm and beauty of each
creation. Students will use professional grade fabric
paints to create their scarves which will be ready to
wear by the end of class.
Make It / Take It
Kit fee: $25. Includes silk scarf and paints.
Special supplies: Bring an apron.
Instructor: Susan Radke
Susan, aka Seranya, is a self-taught fiber artist with a
myriad of influences. She views fabric as one of the
world’s greatest inventions. Drawing on her experience
as an award winning Landscape Designer, elements of
nature often find their way into her work. She is known
for her unique tops, jackets, scarves and handbags
which can be found in her studio and boutique in
Plymouth, Wisconsin. Seranya believes in community
care and donates up to 3% of sales to various charities
in the state. She is a member of a Thursday night
knitting club known as the Twisted Sisters.
Improvisational Piecing X 3

Description: If you have a stash or a bag of scraps and
a sharp pair of scissors, you can be an improv quilter.
Participants will learn three simple techniques that will
free their imagination and liberate them from patterns
and rules.
Make It / Take It
Kit fee: $25. Includes fabric for three projects.
Special supplies: Bring basic sewing supplies, a sharp
scissors, a tweezers (especially if you are a leftie), a
fabric marker, a moderate sized cutting mat, rotary
cutter with a new blade, a medium size ruler, and a
fabric glue stick. It will be helpful to have pencil and
paper to take notes. Cameras are welcome.
Instructor: Joan Cain
Joan was dragged to her first quilting class by a
neighbor 35 years ago and has been quilting ever since.
Complicated directions in patterns caused her to
simplify techniques to allow for personal expression of
creativity. The word spread and for the past 25 years
she has taught classes at quilt shops and guilds in
Illinois and Wisconsin. She is the co-founder of the
Lakeshore Modern Quilters.
Spring Floral Needle Punch

Instructor: Nancee Ariagno
Description: Take your pick of a kit with a spring floral
theme. Students will learn the ancient art of punch
needle embroidery in the artist’s studio on the museum
grounds. Each of Nancee’s original designs can be
finished as a pin or applied as an embellishment to
surfaces or other fiber artistry.
Make It / Take It
Kit fee - $15. Includes pattern, fabric, thread, pin clasp
and hoop.
Special supplies: Bring a small scissors and crewel
needle.
Instructor: Nancee Ariagno
The class will be held in Nancee’s studio, the
Cooperage, which is located in the stone farmhouse on
the museum grounds. Her work can be found in the
Museum gift shop, at her Etsy shop called the Cooper’s
Cottage and at various art venues around the area. She
is a member of the Cedarburg Artists Guild.
