Annual General Meeting
Sunday October 2, 2011

The meeting was called to Order. As outgoing President, Tony Stewart thanked
the board for their services.
The agenda for today’s Annual General Meeting was approved. Motion: Sue
McVeigh Seconded: Mike Ward.
Meeting Minutes of the last Annual General Meeting were approved. Motion:
Betty Ann Ehasoo Seconded: Bryan Lakusta.
President’s Report (Tony Stewart)
a. During the year the changeover from the Irrigation District to the new
District of West Kelowna occurred, and a new lease was signed.
b. As of today, October 2nd, the clubhouse will be closed due to upgrades
to the building which the District of West Kelowna is requiring.
Construction work is expected to begin October 15th.
c. During the reconstruction, the courts will be open, but not the
clubhouse.
Treasurer’s Report (Rob Askin)
In 2011, the club had a net income of $53,017. After expenditures, the club’s
total equity is $31,148, which is up from $25,748 the previous year. The
increase was due to extra tournaments held. Motion to accept the Treasurer’s
Report: Jon Grass Seconded: Mike Ward.
Membership Report (Betty Ann Ehasoo)
In 2011 the club had 198 adult memberships and 84 juniors. Tony thanked
outgoing membership person Betty Ann for an excellent job.
Tournament Director’s Report (Jon Grass)
Jon thanked Bryan Lakusta for running the Mixed Doubles. He reported the
results of the club’s Championships held recently. (Results are on the website).
Club Pro Report (Rosie Schaich)
Rosie reported that Joachim’s free clinics for members had filled up very fast,
and she recommended that the club do it again next year.
The club held a total of 6 tournaments this year (more than in past years). The
tournaments generated approximately $1600 in revenue. The tournaments
held were: the Lakeview Heights Open Championships in May, the Miele Team
Tennis Event (about 120 people signed up), the Adult Open Mixed Doubles
Tournament in August, and three Junior Tournaments.
Ladies Night was well attended. Rosalind Neis expressed how well run the
Ladies Night was. As a newcomer to the club she was very impressed.
District of West Kelowna Report (Tony Stewart)
The club has received a grant of $5,000 from Tennis BC to help pay for a
feasibility study on improving the existing courts. Tony put forward a motion
that the club approve an additional $5,000 for the feasibility study. Motion was
seconded by Marc Greenberg. Tennis Canada offers grants of up to $250,000
for upgrading courts etc.
