Re: Chatelech Field Development
The formation the Sunshine Coast Arts and Recreation Foundation will be very well
received in the community from the discussions that the SCYSA has had over the past
few months. Understanding the limitations of the various government bodies to assist in
the vision for the fields behind Chatelech Secondary School has contributed to this idea.
In order to secure a solid board of directors that will maintain the mandate of the
foundation a number of organizations will be approached to participate. Additionally,
these organizations will be able to generate support from their respective memberships
both in a financial capacity as well as volunteering time. This collaborative strategy will
lead to a very strong start for this new foundation and bring to the community a legacy as
it fulfills its initial project.
The Sunshine Coast School District can have the confidence that this foundation will be
successful in meeting its obligations to maintain a high standard of maintenance of the
facilities being presented for development. The standards will ensure complete safety
while providing an outstanding opportunity for both educators and students to excel in a
very professional environment.
Consideration to have the proposed property for development leased to the new
foundation will certainly broaden the financial access for funding. This type of
relationship will be beneficial to the Sunshine Coast School District, as well as the
community at large. Our recent meeting suggests that there is an opportunity for this
strategy to work. We all look forward to hearing what has to be done to facilitate such an
agreement.
