EXPERIENCE OVERVIEW
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Phil Smith is an Associate Director and manages Deicke Richards’ Sunshine
Coast office. Phil is a registered architect with a wide range of experience
in both architecture and urban design projects. His 20+ year career has
been divided between private architectural practice and working within
local government. Past roles with Maroochy Shire Council include working
as Principal Urban Designer where he led Councillor and community
visioning processes, workshop facilitation and public forums, as well as the
master planning and implementation of key urban design projects.
Associate Director, Deicke Richards (2006 – Present)
With Deicke Richards Phil was Project Leader on the Maroochydore
City Centre Concept Plan (2006), Bowen Hills UDA Master Plan (2008)
for ULDA, CoastConnect BRT Project (2007 – 2009), completed design
options for the Maroochy Rail Station and Bus Interchange (2008-9) for
the Queensland State Government and Bokarina Beach Village Master
Plan (2008 – 2011) for Stockland. In 2011, Phil was part of the Moreton
Bay Rail Link team and was also project leader on the Yeerongpilly TOD
project, one of the most significant recent urban regeneration and transit
oriented developments in Brisbane and his experience enables him to move
comfortably between the macro and micro scales. Phil currently sits on
Sunshine Coast Regional Council Urban Design Advisory Panel.
