STORE AND BREEDING CATTLE, SHEEP AND PIGS will be held on SATURDAYS
We believe that this will be in everyone’s best interest and look forward to continuing to provide a
complete marketing service to all our clients.
The market is licenced to accept cattle from TB Restricted Herds, ie. Herds that have had a TB
breakdown in our Red (Slaughter only) markets subject to the following conditions:
a. The animals being presented for sale must have had a negative TB test in the previous 30
days
b. In order for you to bring your stock here you will need to obtain a licence (TB24B) from
your local Defra Animal Health Office.
Obviously there will be many concerns and questions that you may have, we will continue to
update you in this publication or better still ring anytime

SHEEP EID
The following applies to movements made from 01.01.2011 – for sheep indentified since 1st
January 2010

Lambs/Hoggets destined for slaughter before they reach 12 months of age and identified with a
single tag bearing flock mark (electronic or manual)
These sheep can be recorded on movement documents as a batch. There is NO requirement to list
all the flock numbers, even when a “batch within batch” consignment is moved.
Lambs/ Hoggets (Stores) must be double tagged and must be electronic
These sheep MUST be individually identified on the movement document, unless they are moving
to Newark or any other approved CPRC (Central Point Recording Centre) where the tags will be read
and recorded on behalf of the keeper.
Keepers using the CPRC facility must populate their Holding Register with the read information
within 48 hours of the sheep leaving their holding
Holding Registers:
1.
ALL sheep moved MUST be recorded in the keepers Holding Register “Keepers” include:
farmers, dealers, markets, abattoirs etc. This has been a requirement since 31 st December
2009.
The recording requirements include:
 All individual numbers, if full EID has been applied
 All flock numbers, if single slaughter tags have been applied

Paper forms completed will then be hand delivered to the RPA Drop in Centre in Worcester.
Or why not complete the form online. Again James has all of the software to be able to do
this, please contact him to discuss, he will need you PI and PIN Number. Applications will be
submitted directly on line and giving the RPA time should allow them to get things right and
early payments!

Young Bulls - 286 averaged 204.77p
A truly outstanding entry of young bulls on offer today as more of the Spring 2012 born bulls
become fit.
Today we saw 79 Black and Whites forward and some real bottom end sorts included in the
average leveling at 166.0p.
Trade marginally less on the week, however still very favourable against the competition
who muscled up a mighty entry of 8 bulls and way ahead of deadweight returns!!
Top bull today was consigned by James Mills, Northants who sold Limousins to 245.5p £1337.98 and Blues to 241.5p - £1270.29, 240.5p - £1301.11 and 239.5p - £1410.66. John
Holmes, Plumtree sold Blues to 244.5p - £1572.14 with others at 242.5p - £1654.45 and
238.5p - £1655.19.
Messrs J & R Sims Brothers, Derbyshire sold Limousins to 244.5p - £1511.01, Charles
Addison sold Blondes to 239.5p - £1290.01.

Again a very decent entry forward and some very decent sorts at the top end.
Again trade exceptionally fast for all breeds, weights and qualities.
Top Cow today was consigned by Paul Barwood who sold Blues to 228.5p - £1770.88, Ian
Wildgoose sold Limousins to 227.5p - £1430.98, Messrs Manor Farms sold Blues to 226.5p £1870.89 with Limousins to 211.5p - £1626.44, Robin Smith, Melton Mowbray sold
Bazadaise to 218.5p - £1367.81 and David Bamforth, Halifax sold Limousins to 216.5p £1621.59.
Generally the best meated cows today 180p plus with –U grade cows 172-178p and R grades
160-170p and O+’s 154-168p.
Best meated Black and Whites 144-154p and meated Holsteins 130-138p, plainer sorts
118-128p and horrors 108-117p.
OTMS clean cattle were more plentiful today and some excellent top end quality.
Trade today was again exceptionally fast.

sold Limousins to 240.5p - £1835.02, Roy Beckitt sold Bazadaise to 232.5p - £1206.68,
Graham Wade sold Limousins to 229.5p - £1461.92.
In the steers David and Louise Todd sold Limousins to 227.5p - £1619.80, Wendy Pickard
sold Limousins to £1911.49 and £1937.88.
Stock bulls not the quality of last week, however still very well sold with Jeff Comer,
Swindon selling Limousins to £1835.60. A GREAT RESULT MANY MORE REQUIRED

Again a similar entry of steers on offer today, with some excellent top end cattle forward.
Trade just as fast as ever!!
Top steers today were consigned by Messrs Swindells Livestock who sold Limousins to
268.5p - £1463.33 and 259.5p - £1424.66, Ian Wildgoose sold Blues to 267.5p - £1385.65,
Mike, Jane, Charlie and David Wills sold Limousins to 258.5p - £1393.32 with others at
256.5p - £1385.10 and Charolais to 253.5p - £1396.79. Brian Smith, Leamington Spa sold
Charolais to 249.5p - £1676.64. Brian and Josie Cummings sold Limousins to 248.5p £1488.12 and 245.5p - £1546.65. David and Louise Todd sold Limousins to 247.5p £1692.90.
‘Team Todd’ also topped the gross section selling Limousins to £1794.35. Harold Russell
sold Blondes to £1768.61.
Today E grades 240p plus with U+’s 232-238p and –U grades 224-234p and R grades 216223p and O+’s 208-215p.
Best Black and Whites were very thin on the ground and sold from 190-200p with plainer
sorts 180-188p and very plains 160-170p. A great result and it goes without saying – WE
PAY ON THE DAY!!
