THE BRITISH COUNCIL ERASMUS STUDENT PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION 2010 Deadline: 1st October 2010 The British Council is holding its annual Erasmus Photography Competition for returning Erasmus students from the academic year 2009/10. This is an opportunity for all Erasmus students to receive recognition from University of Warwick and the British Council for their time abroad. All winning photography portfolios will be used in future University of Warwick and British Council publicity material, in the press and on the website. The top three overall student winners will be invited to attend a prize event at the British Council headquarters in London on November 12 to accept their awards and prizes. Students are asked to submit a photography portfolio of four (4) photos, based on the theme: ERASMUST! WHY MORE STUDENTS SHOULD TAKE PART It is suggested you submit photos which would convince future students to take part in Erasmus, that portray how you benefited from taking part and what you enjoyed about it. Consider the things that convinced you to take part, perhaps opportunities to travel, as well as those things that you hadn’t expected, such as new skills, which you believe need to be highlighted to future students. Consider also what objections some students might have to taking part and convince them otherwise with your photos! We do not want to pre-determine what these might be, but as a guide, topics might cover: - Different ways of learning/teaching/working - New hobbies, skills, experiences - New/different perspectives - New communication skills, language skills - Opportunities to travel, different cultures, different environments - New friends Your photos should be inspiring and considered and help to promote the programme to future students. Each photograph should have a caption that explains where it was taken, who is in it, what is happening and how it would convince someone to take part. Captions should not be more than 50 words. Please email your photography portfolio with this form to Amanda Ashby, Erasmus Programme Manager, The International Erasmus Office (a.j.ashby@warwick.ac.uk) by the deadline (1st October 2010). Please do not paste your photos into Powerpoint but include them as individual photos (eg jpeg format). One photo portfolio will be selected by The University of Warwick and submitted to the British Council for entry to the national competition and the chance to win one of three top prizes and coverage in British Council promotional brochures, press and websites. For further information on the competition please go to www.britishcouncil.org/erasmus-competition. ERASMUS STUDENT ERASMUS PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION For completion by each student By entering this competition you permit The University of Warwick and the British Council to use the photographs and your name for promotional purposes, in any media, including, but not limited to, print, web and press.
