Campus Recreation Club Sports Coaching Agreement

I, , understand and agree to the following conditions as the coach/instructor of the club.

I will:

Coach/instruct the club according to the skill level of the club members in order to develop and improve the skills of all members.

 Coach/instruct the club according to the rules and regulations of the club’s governing body and/or conference.

Stay involved with continuing education and updated techniques as they pertain to the sport.

Conduct all practices and contests in a professional, safe, and responsible manner, keeping with University policies, and promoting good sportsmanship on and off the field.

Understand emergency safety and medical procedures for the Campus Recreation Department, UNC, and the facility wherein practices and contests are held.

As coach/instructor, I may act as a mentor for the student officers, but not seek active involvement in club management. The student officer(s) will serve as the primary liaison(s) between the club and the Campus Recreation staff. I will only assist the officers in their role as deemed necessary.

Assist the club in implementing safety practices for all participants to include the inspection of sports gear and the reporting of any hazardous facility conditions.

Not have voting rights in club business unless I meet the eligibility requirements for membership in the club.

Acknowledge that I am aware of the risks attendant to acting as a coach/instructor and am willing to assume such risks. I, for my heirs, estate, executors, administrators, assignees, and for all members of my family, hereby waive any claim and any right to sue the

State of Colorado, University of Northern Colorado, University of Northern Colorado Board of Trustees, Campus Recreation

Department, and any of their respective administrators, directors, agents, and other employees of the organization, club members, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and leasers of premises used to conduct the event for any negligence and all present and future liability, actions, causes of action, debts, claims, or demands of any kind and nature whatsoever which may arise by, or in connection with, my services as coach. These claims may include, but are not limited to, bodily injury

(including death) or property damage.

Perform other duties as specified by the club. See additional informational sheet.

It is required that you obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid certification.

Any provision of this contract and any rules, regulations, policies or procedures of the University notwithstanding, this contract is subject to termination at will by either party at any time, and the coach shall be deemed to be an employee-at-will. No compensation, whether as a buy out of the remaining term of the contract, as liquidated damages, or as any other form of remuneration shall be owed or paid to the coach upon or after expiration of this contract except for compensation that was earned prior to termination prorated to the date of termination.

Club Sports Coaching Agreement Amendment

The University of Northern Colorado Collegiate Club Sports Program encourages having qualified and experienced coaches for each club.

In addition to agreeing to abide by the standards set forth in the University of Northern Colorado Campus Recreation Club Sports

Coaching Agreement, any individual involved in a coach-player relationship, whether they are receiving compensation or not, must agree to the following amendments to the aforementioned Coaching Agreement.

I, , agree to coach the club team. I understand that my role and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the statements agreed to as evidence by my signature on the University of Northern Colorado Campus Recreation Club Sports Coaching Agreement and the following:

I understand that I am accountable for the actions of the team members at practice, while competing, and during travel, and I agree to enforce the University of Northern Colorado, Standards of Student Conduct (which have been provided to me) and all behavioral guidelines of the Club Sport Program.

I will act as a role model to the team members and ensure that all team members positively represent the University of Northern

Colorado at all times. I will follow all conduct guidelines in the current Club Sports manual and adhere to the University of

Northern Colorado, Standards of Student Conduct.

I understand that the goals of team travel include team building, student-leadership development, and common enjoyment through recreation, physical activity, and competitions. I will encourage fulfillment of these goals.

I understand that I must always conduct myself in a manner that does not detract from the reputation of the University. This includes behavior in game situations, contact with other teams, and when traveling on a University or Club Sports sponsored trip.

I will be present at all practices and competitions during team trips.

 I understand that any team member’s violation of the University of Northern Colorado Standards of Student Conduct or violation of behavioral guidelines of the Club Sports Program, on or off the competitive surface, while on a team trip, may result in my immediate dismissal.

I will provide the safest possible environment for the team during all Club Sport events.
