Have you verified Occupancy on your non-residential flood policies? As of November 1, FEMA is requiring that we verify the use of non-residential buildings covered by a National Flood Insurance Program flood policy. The program is trying to distinguish between nonresidential buildings and commercial use buildings. The upcoming 4/1/2016 law changes will result in separate rate charts for these 2 categories. Some examples are: Non-Residential -Shed -Barn -Detached Garage -Pool House Commercial -Office -Retail Space -Commercial Warehouse -Manufacturing Click HERE for tutorials and information regarding this change. If the policy occupancy is not verified before renewal it will default to Business Occupancy which could result in higher premiums. Once you sign into Floodpro, you can click on “Occupancy Verification” to view your affected policies and correct those on-the-spot. As with all flood changes, please don’t hesitate to call with any questions or concerns!
