Teva Pharmaceuticals National Network of Excellence (NNE) in Neuroscience Official launch and Call for Proposals Introduction The call for proposals described below and in the attachment marks the official launch of Teva Pharmaceuticals National Network of Excellence in Neurosciences (NNE). The goal of the NNE is to support and enhance Israeli neuroscience research, with relevance to human neurological and psychiatric illness, and to further strengthen the capabilities of the Israeli Neuroscience research community. Topics of Interest 1.3 The therapeutic areas of neuroscience research that the NNE will focus on: 1.3.3 Neurodegenerative disorders, such as: Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Alzheimer's Disease, Frontotemporal Dementia, Parkinson's Disease, Huntington's Disease, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS( 1.3.3 Pain 1.3.1 Neuropsychiatric disorders, such as: Depression, Schizophrenia 1.3.3 Other Neurological disorders (including without limitation): Epilepsy, Tourette Syndrome, Rett Syndrome and Duchenne muscular dystrophy. 1.3 Research areas that will be supported by the NNE (including without limitation): Disease genetics, biomarkers, animal models, disease pathways, targets and validated targets, bioinformatics, novel approaches to disease modification, discovery and early preclinical drug development, in vitro, animal and human studies and basic neuroscience. Grant Tracks The NNE will include three award tracks: )3(Research Grants – of up to $100,000 per year for a period of two (2) years with a possible renewal/extension for one (1) additional year, at the sole discretion of Teva. )3(Pre-Doctoral Scholarships – of up to $25,000 to outstanding pre-doctoral graduate students in neuroscience (for up to 2 years( )1(Post-Doctoral Fellowships – of up to $35,000 for outstanding post-doctoral students that are within three years of their doctorate (for up to 2 years( Note :Preference will be given to applications that involve more than one institution. Total Budgetary Envelop Teva is committed to invest up to $15M in the NNE over a period of 5 years Deadlines At RDA: 16:00 on 12 March 2013 At Teva: 17:00 on 15 March 2013.
