We also loan conference phones, flip charts, wet/dry vacuum, dehumidifiers and portable heaters. Post is sorted and delivered daily by 11.30am to local pigeon holes. Autoclaving & Glasswashing We manage a daily service of glass washing and autoclaving, for all your laboratory needs for the cleaning of glassware and other laboratory equipment, the sterilisation of media and glassware and the deactivation and subsequent disposal of CATII and CATIII waste. Building Maintenance We are the point of contact for any building maintenance requests such as blocked WCs, broken locks, radiator not heating, lights out. For maintenance requests ONLY the email is different: biol-maintenance-group@york.ac.uk Controlled Temperature Rooms There are many rooms that have their own cooling and heating to maintain a constant temperature. If you require access to restricted areas please contact Infrastructure to arrange KABA card access and an intruder alarm code if required. We hold a key safe for all the locks in the Department, please contact Infrastructure for key issues. Scintillation Counters We provide the following scintillation counters: Wizard 1470 Gamma Counter, C9902 TopCount- a high throughput luminescence counter and a 2900TR liquid scintillation counter. Authorised access is required and training can be provided. Equipment Deliveries & Disposals We are happy to assist with deliveries and the disposal of laboratory and office equipment. Photocopiers The copiers are maintained under contract with the University, paper is replenished by Infrastructure as and when needed. If you have any issues with the photocopiers please email Infrastructure. -80°C Freezer Alarms We use an Asper temperature monitoring system for the -80 freezers. The Asper system will activate the alarm and send a text message to mobile phones when the temperature fluctuates outside the operational parameters. Users can buy this system for approximately £500 per freezer. The system will be installed and maintained by the Electronics workshop.
