Newsletter 10/5 – 10/14/15 Quote of the week: Education breeds confidence. Confidence breeds hope. Hope breeds peace ~Confucius Dear Parents, This past week we continued our work on summary, theme, and Response to Literature. We also started The Catcher in the Rye in the honors class, while the regular classes are reading short stories from America Street. Students we’re also tasked with personal presentations for September 11 where they will present a person’s first-hand account to the rest of the class. After that, we’ll move into our second unit dealing with mood and inferences. Included with this newsletter, you will find a copy of your student’s grades for my class. I have asked them to bring these to you to be signed and returned to me on Monday, October 19. If the sheet is missing, please let me know. As always, I encourage contact with me. Please follow me on my Athlos Website and call me or email me if you have any questions. - Marcus Leab This week both classes had a test on Wednesday (October 14th) on their respective topics. They worked on taking notes and placing the notes and study guides in there interactive notebooks. These notes and guides take the curriculum content and put it in student friendly language to help scholars access the material. It is important that your scholar tape or paste their homework assignments in these interactive notebooks on a daily basis and bring the interactive notebook to class each day. As always, please follow your scholar’s homework assignments on the Athlos Website and email me if you have any questions.
