LASIK procedure is simple. With the femtosecond laser the surgeon creates a thin flap in the cornea. The flap, remaining hinged on one side, is then gently folded back and the eye is ready for step two. Now, with another laser called excimer, the surgeon reshapes the underlying tissue. The flap is put back in its original position where it adheres naturally. Now, to prepare the flap on the surface of the eye in the first part of the procedure, we use the FEMTO LDV laser. Traditionally, this was done by microkeratome, which is a mechanical device using a blade. With the FEMTO LDV © 2013 Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems, Switzerland.
