Information La Grande & Island City Neighborhood Cleanup-2012 and TRI-COUNTY HAZARDOUS WASTE CLEANUP Saturday, May 5, 9:00 to 1:00 Families, business and service organizations, church and youth groups, and neighbors are encouraged to organize cleanup projects to remove junk and debris from along city roadways, parks and neighborhoods, and yards of homebound friends. Projects might include removing unsightly piles of trash, raking lawns and trimming shrubs, picking up litter, and collecting discarded paper and cans. City Garbage subscribers can deposit yard debris at no cost at the facility on Hwy 30; fees will apply for truck and trailer loads of junk. Small collections will be received at managed locations for a $$ donation. Limited volunteer assistance will be available for homebound neighbors and heavy materials. Trash bags and supplies will be available at La Grande Fire Station Parking Lot, 1806 Cove Ave. Convenient Dumpster and Deposit sites ….for small loads at no charge, but money $$ donations will be accepted TIRE Dumpster: Behind Les Schwab, off 20th Street. The first 4 tires at No charge then $1 per tire Island City Dumpster at Fred Beeman Park: Accepting yard junk, metals L G Site 1 at High School Parking Lot 2nd and H St: Accepting yard junk, metals L G Site 2 at North Ash and V Ave: Accepting yard junk and metals; broken equipment such as lawn mowers (without oil), wheels and hub caps; painted wood and scraps; car oil in jugs; paint brushes and materials; batteries; window glass and doors; used furniture; small appliances. No compressors. Hazardous Materials at Waste Site, 412 Hwy 30: including paint additives, resins, glue and adhesives, deck cleaners in containers, aerosol paints, and toxic containers. Residents of BAKER, UNION, and Wallowa Counties are encouraged to bring materials in containers for special handling at No charge. Appointments are encouraged by calling 541-963-5459. Hours will be 8:00 to 1:00. Re-Store, 2304 East R: No charge. Reusable appliances, wood materials over 2 feet long, computers , TVs, monitors, (no printers), furniture in good condition, home decor, other usable building materials. Unused Paint at Miller Home Center, 307 Greenwood. No charge. Accepting latex and oil base paint and stain must be in liquid form with original label and no leaking containers.
