Job Title Line Manager Direct Reports Location Date job profile Community Investment Officer Katherine Garrett, Senior Manager, Community Investment team N/A Wimbledon September 2015 Job Purpose To provide research, communications and stakeholder management support to the CIPD Community Investment team. Key accountabilities 1. Help to develop the CIPD’s understanding of the key issues around employee volunteering and community investment and help identify key areas where CIPD can add value to the public debate in this area. 2. Provide research and policy support to the CIPD’s volunteering programmes, draft outputs (eg. including case studies and pilot evaluations) in collaboration with the research team and other organisations/stakeholders. 3. Support the communication around the CIPD as a Centre for Excellence on Employer Supported Volunteering (e.g. engagement with members and other stakeholders) including acting as a point of contact for information and communication requests. 4. Support with stakeholder management, in particular around charity and voluntary sector contacts, including undertaking stakeholder mapping, and representing the volunteering activities and the CIPD at meetings and external events. 5. Manage the department’s volunteering advisory group, including arranging meetings and liaising with the group’s members (and researching and recruiting new members as appropriate). Act as point of contact for members of the advisory group, get their input into relevant areas of the CIPD’s volunteering activity. 6. Help ensure the CIPD responds/represents the needs of the voluntary/charity sector working with colleagues (e.g. employer solutions team) 7. Support with policy, research and communication ideas for the volunteering programmes. Write articles, blogs and contribute to newsletter etc. as appropriate. Dimensions KPI: o o o Delivery of stakeholder map and increased levels of CIPD external engagement around volunteering/community investment. Regular engagement of senior HR professionals in CIPD volunteering advisory group. Delivery of written outputs, including blog posts, case studies and other campaigning materials. Total staff: N/A Knowledge, qualifications and experience The job holder will have at least 3 years relevant experience, preferably working in a charity or community investment/CSR environment. Educated to degree level, you will have a track record of working with a range of stakeholders. The job holder must have excellent written and spoken communication skills as there is a need for the post holder to produce a range of communications outputs. Diplomacy and confidentiality are also essential. The ideal candidate will have excellent personal and influencing skills that are required to build good working relationships, both within the CIPD and externally. You will have a good understanding of the major issues facing the voluntary sector and the way it works so you can hit the ground running. The role may require some attendance at both national and regional events, some of which may be held outside office hours.
