Sequestration Values Table for the Carbon Credits (Sequestration of Carbon in Soil Using Modelled Abatement Estimates) Methodology Determination 2014 Getting started (Division 3.2) Project type (Division 3.3) Project management activity (Division 3.3) Emission sources (Subdivision 4.2.3) Baseline (Division 4.3) Abatement (Part 4) Select one project type per CEA. Identify the project area, ensure that it is located on eligible land and divide the area into one or more carbon estimation areas. Nominate one or more project management activities for each CEA as appropriate. A ‘project type’ is a broad category of management undertaken on a CEA that involves one or more ‘project management activities’. Account for relevant project-related emissions arising from other sources, such as livestock, irrigation energy use, synthetic fertiliser, lime or residues. Calculate baseline emissions using the appropriate approach given the project type, project management activity or activities and the land use of the CEA. Calculate net abatement (project sequestration less change in project emissions) as summarised at Subdivision 4.2.1 and in accordance with the provisions of part 4. For sustainable intensification projects, proponents must implement any two of the relevant activities. Each project management activity generates a defined amount of sequestration amount. Note - Sequestration values are provided in tCO2-e / ha/ y. Irrigation (from new entitlement or allocation) 0.449 Irrigation energy use And/or 1. Define the project area o Sustainable intensification Refer to Subdivision 3.2.2. Choose two project management activities for sustainable intensification. 0.898 A: zero baseline Or Improved nutrient management 0.898 Managing soil acidity 0.898 Lime Zero baseline Pasture renovation (pasture CEAs only) 0.898 Pasture residues Zero baseline Synthetic fertiliser Livestock (all pasture CEAs) 2. Confirm that project is located on eligible land o Irrigation (from improved efficiency) Zero baseline Sequestration values, in tCO2-e / ha/ y, are provided in this column. Crop residues (all crop CEAs) Refer to Subdivision 3.2.2. B: mean annual emissions during BEP A: mean annual emissions during BEP Abatement Or B: assumed mean annual emissions during BEP o B: project emissions have increased by 30% compared to baseline emissions from this source. o Crop residues Conversion to pasture Conversion of crops to pasture 1.835 C: mean annual emissions during BEP A: zero baseline Synthetic fertiliser Or B: mean annual emissions during BEP 3. Subdivide the project area into CEAs o o A: mean annual emissions during BEP Livestock Or B: assumed mean annual emissions during BEP Refer to Subdivision 3.2.3 Stubble retention Stubble retention (crop CEAs only) 0.66 Crop residues A: zero baseline Calculate reporting period sequestration for the project area Calculate reporting period change in emissions for the project area. Subtract emissions from sequestration to derive project net abatement.
