The Prehistory of MacArthur Beach State Park: Sun, Surf
and Questions?
Chris received his BA from Franklin Pierce
College in New Hampshire specializing in the
identification of human and animal remains
from archaeological sites. After graduation he
took two years off, working in the private
sector side of archaeology called Cultural
Resource Management (CRM). During this time
Chris worked on archaeological investigations
throughout the Mid-Atlantic States.
Since joining Palm Beach County, Chris is the
lead archaeologist for the County, recording 33
new archaeological sites in Lake Okeechobee
during the 2007 -2009 drought. In 2010 he led
excavations on a portion of a buried sand
mound in Dubois Park and is currently
researching the large prehistoric Native
American mound complexes around the
Everglades.

larger regional framework to gain a better
understanding of the prehistoric inhabitants of
