INTRODUCTION
The IMPACT Institute has a policy of providing equal opportunity. All courses are open to all students regardless of race, color, gender,
disabilities or national origin including limited English proficiency.
Congratulations on having chosen a program in Career and Technical Education as a part of your high
school education. Our programs are geared toward providing you with relevant skills and knowledge
that will best prepare you for a wide array of options for your future.
Your training will provide you with the necessary skills to become employed in an entry-level position of
your chosen occupation, or you will gain competency in the skills of the occupation to receive
consideration for advanced standing if you choose to attend a state-supported technical college or
university. Enrollment in Career and Technical Education programs may also prepare you for other
future occupational choices such as military careers or apprenticeship programs.
This handbook is prepared to assist you in your successful completion of the Career and Technical
Education Program and to make the transition from high school to employment or post-secondary
education a planned and prepared procedure.
Your program instructor will discuss the contents of this handbook at the beginning of the school year
and answer any questions you may have.
We wish you success as you progress through your occupational preparation. We are here to assist you
in any way that we can and look forward to sharing in your education.

The IMPACT Institute has a policy of providing equal opportunity. All courses are open to all students regardless of race, color, gender,
disabilities or national origin including limited English proficiency.


Program Instructors have been hired based upon successful previous employment in the area
they are teaching. They are required to continue their education to remain current on changes
in the occupation and the workplace.
The Curriculum has been reviewed by an advisory committee consisting of local business and
industry representatives. This ensures that you are receiving relevant instruction to prepare you
for the occupation.
The Equipment in each program is modern and mirrors that used by area employers. We
attempt to upgrade our equipment as changes occur in the occupation.
Your high school guidance counselor and the program instructor will assist you with
employment opportunities upon graduation and/or will help you enroll in further education
beyond high school.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU
The Career and Technical Education program operates under conditions similar to the employment
community. We expect you to develop occupational skills and job habits that are acceptable to area
employers. Our basic expectations include:





Putting forth your best effort to learn the skills being taught. This includes a serious attitude
toward instructional demonstrations, book assignments, lab assignments, classroom speakers
and field trips.
Obey all rules established by each Career and Technical Education program and your high
school.
Develop a pattern of good attendance.
Learn to work in teams with other classmates to solve problems related to instructional
concepts.
Discuss with your program instructor any concerns you have related to your enrollment in the
program. Often, small items can be resolved before becoming large problems.

credits, however; they are not guaranteed to be awarded. This is based on passing grades and
assessments as required by the institution. Students need to see their instructor for complete
information. Once obtaining these credits, students are able to acquire official transcripts through the
institution where credits were issued. IMPACT Institute does not have access to these transcripts.
