February 2- Grades for Poetry Test II and Analogy Test X will be written in planners. Visit
computer lab to register at the ACT testing center.
February 3- Second day of going over ACT test in the computer lab.
February 4- Third day of going over ACT test in the computer lab.
February 5- Background information on the author Mark Twain and his short story “The

February 16- President’s Day Holiday.
February 17- Students will have their analogy test grade entered into their planners. Read and
discuss Kate Chopin’s short story “The Story of an Hour.” Background information of Stephen

February 23- Finish listening to and begin discussion of “To Build a Fire.”
February 24- Conclude discussion of the London story and review for the test.
February 25- Test on the five short stories covered in this unit. The test will be composed of
short answer questions.
February 26- Students will have test grades written in their planners. Begin essay three.
Students will compose a four paragraph MLA style essay which will include title page, outline,
essay, and work cited page. Prompt will be provided for the students.
February 27- Continue essay composition.
March 2- Continue essay composition.
March 3- Continue essay composition.
March 4- Continue essay composition.
March 5- Essay three will be due by the end of the class period.
March 6- Make-up test day. Students who have missed work and have an excused absence will
be allowed to take the missed test. End of quarter three.
