Leonid Kozlov He works in sculpture, painting, graphics, referring to the language of the abstraction. All his works are united by the tendency to logical generalization, succinctness, conceptuality, expressive lines and natural organic colors. Art critics call abstraction of the master to be rather conventional. Outlines of the real world can be seen in the works of the painter. Leonid Kozlov was born in 1954 in Kyiv. In 1969 he attended the workshop of the sculptor Fuzhenko and painter Grygoryev. In 1989 Kozlov became a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. In the middle of 1990s beginning of 2000s he creates a series of white plaster sculptures – cylindrical modules, which implement the formula of sculptures free from all unnecessary things. We face not only an attempt of revivification of the ascetic pure form, but also the study of its infinity. Fragile bronze ballerinas are another favorite subject of arts for Kozlov. In 1994 Leonid Kozlov received the first place at the symposium of the stone sculptures “TERRA INCOGNITO”, Irena art gallery, Kyiv, Ukraine. In 1998 he got a silver medal at the International Academic Exhibition of the Central European countries “CES INCONNUS CELEBRES” Paris, France. In 1999 he got a medal at the International exhibition of the small plastic sculpture in the category “Model” for the sculpture of Naomi Campbell, Chicago, USA. During 2002-2003 Leonid Kozlov creates a series of works under the title “Sheets”, which cover the same topic in graphics. Big solo exhibition of Leonid Kozlov’s works was held in 2003 in the House of Artist in Kyiv. The master for the first time introduced his abstract paintings to the viewers. At the present time the works of the painter are exhibited at the museums in Ukraine, USA, Great Britain, France, Sweden, Germany Finland, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Nigeria. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Solo exhibitions: 1995 - “Sixteen Steps to the New Harmony”, National Museum, Kyiv, Ukraine. 1997 - “Existence in the Space”, National Museum, Kyiv, Ukraine. 1999 - Sculpture, Kyiv Museum of Russian Art, Kyiv, Ukraine. 2001 - Paintings, Irena art gallery, Kyiv, Ukraine. 2002 - Paintings, Mystets art gallery, National Union of the Artists of Ukraine, Kyiv, Ukraine. 2003 - Paintings, graphics, sculpture, House of Artists gallery, National Union of the Artists of Ukraine, Kyiv, Ukraine. 2004 - Sculpture, graphics, Gard gallery, Yuzhnoukrayinsk, Ukraine. 2007 - Sculpture, paintings, Kyiv city gallery of arts “Lavra” 2008 - Sculpture, paintings, Kavanaugh art gallery, West de Mont, Iowa state, USA. - Sculpture, paintings, Ukrainian National Museum in Chicago, Chicago, USA. 2009 - “Harmony of color and plastic”, SUB gallery, London, Great Britain. 2010 - “Ode to life and beauty” sculpture, paintings, Ukrainian National Museum in Chicago, Chicago, USA. - Sculpture, paintings, Grand Sculpture Salon – 2010, Ukrainian House, Kyiv, Ukraine. 2011 - Style & Charm (sculpture, paintings), gallery “54”, London, Great Britain. - Paintings, Mystetska Zbirka art gallery, Kyiv, Ukraine. - Grand Sculpture Salon, Mystetsky Arsenal, Kyiv, Ukraine. 2012 - Grand Sculpture Salon, Mystetsky Arsenal, Kyiv, Ukraine. - Paintings, Mystetska Zbirka art gallery, Kyiv, Ukraine. 2013 - Paintings, Mystetska Zbirka art gallery, Kyiv, Ukraine.
