Biography - Kainoa Kilcher Kainoa Kilcher is an American actor, black belt martial artist and stunt performer, unit still photographer, Magician, songwriter, and indigenous rights activist. Unions: SAG / ASCAP / Local 600 He was born in Kapa’a, Hawaii and is of Peruvian Quechua / Huachipaeri indigenous and Swiss /Alaskan descent. Kainoa is the younger brother of award winning Actress Q’orianka Kilcher and the older brother of Xihuaru Kilcher. His father is a Quechua-Huachipaeri indigenous artist from the Amazon region of Peru and his mother, Saskia Kilcher, is a Swiss / Alaskan Artist and human-rights activist and the 1st. cousin of Grammy-nominated singer Jewel Kilcher.[1] Kainoa Kilcher's maternal grandfather was Ray 'Pirate' Genet, a famous Alaskan mountaineer and mountain rescue guide and his grandfather late Yule Kilcher was a Swiss Film Maker and famous Alaska pioneer and former Alaska state Senator who helped write the Alaskan Constitution. Kainoa started his training as actor and martial artist at the age of 9 while tagging along to his older sisters classes. At age 12 he was invited to play a small roles as “Young Warrior” in the Terrance Malick film “The New World”. Later that year, he landed a small part in “Rush Hour 3” as Kung Fu Student and stunt performer as well as a small part in the film “Princess Ka’iulani” in which he played the role of “Kaleo” opposite his sister and starring lead, Q’orianka Kilcher. A year later, Kainoa was chosen to play the co-lead as “Prince Maradesh” in the action film “The Moor” opposite Michael Jai White. The Film, which shot in China, was supposed to be his great breakthrough role, not only as an actor but also as a martial artist and action hero, since it gave him an opportunity to showcase his fighting and horse stunt skills. Sadly the film never was completed, due to some complications with it’s funding. In 2010 Kainoa was offered the role of “Moray” opposite Christopher Walken in the Film “The Power Of Few” (starring Christopher Walken and Christian Slater), and was asked to write and perform one of his original songs for the sound track of the film. Kainoa currently resides in Los Angeles and is training hard to further his skills as actor, stunt performer, martial artist, photographer and multimedia designer while honing his skills as songwriter at the Musicians Institute of Hollywood. In his free time Kainoa is a dedicated advocate for human rights, environmental and social justice and indigenous peoples rights causes from around the world, especially Peru, volunteering his time as researcher and workshop leader for “on-Q Initiatives” Traditional Science Pilot Projects (TSPP) Kainoa is also the international campaign coordinator for Youth4Truth Media, an organization dedicated towards empowering indigenous youth living on the frontlines of climate change, environmental destruction and globalizations expansion with video cameras as strong defense against human rights abuses, environmental destruction, and corporate and government oppression and Lies. Youth 4 Truth Media supports a network of alternative media projects throughout the US and internationally and up to date has provided more than 65 Video Cameras and training to primarily young Indigenous youth activists and environmental justice advocates as well as community leaders and communities living in conflict areas where Oil, Gas, Lumber and Mining projects threaten their people’s health, lands and survival.
