HOW DO I START?
 REGISTER for a user account. By registering, you will be included in the email updates
and comments on individuals listed in the Descendants Database. (IMPORTANT: both
user name and password are Case Sensitive)
 Enter the surname you are looking for in the SEARCH box at the upper right. Women
are listed with their maiden surname which follows the standardized genealogical
naming pattern for charts; all individuals are listed with their Father’s surname.
HOW DO I SUBMIT MY FAMILY?
 Print a Family Group Sheet (FGS): From the main page, go to Resources on the far
RIGHT; select FREE GENEALOGY FORMS & CHARTS. Scroll to the bottom of the page,
select FAMILY GROUP RECORD and PRINT. For family groups with more children, repeat
the first two steps, then select FAMILY GROUP RECORD CONT to print a second page for
your family group.
 Complete the Family Group Sheet (FGS) with names, dates, places of birth, baptism,
marriage, death, burial, etc. or with as much information as you have available. All input
is important and any personal knowledge or other interesting facts about your family
group is also welcome.
 You do not need to submit copies of source documents, however, please extract all
pertinent info from your sources and submit with your FGS.
 Photos – Your old photos may hold valuable clues to your early San Diego genealogy. If
you are unable to scan your photos, PLEASE CONTACT US DIRECTLY either by mail or
email. We will make arrangements to copy your old photos while they are still in your
possession.
 Submittal: There are two ways to submit your information to the DESDstory web site:

Your information will be reviewed by the Descendant Research Team and will be entered into
the database as time allows.

and there are many interesting options that you can use. We are just starting to build this
database, so keep in mind that all options may not be working to full capacity.
