Dear [NAME],
Global Brigades is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and the world’s largest
student-led global health and sustainable development organization. Global Brigades’
mission is to provide rural communities with sustainable solutions under a holistic
service model, in order to improve health, water, sanitation, and economic
infrastructures. Since 2005, nearly 20,000 volunteers, consisting of students and health
professionals, have traveled to Honduras, Panama, Ghana, and Nicaragua to deliver
services to about 500,000 patients in over 250 communities. These are low-income,
rural communities with limited or no access to medicine otherwise.
The [Chapter Name] Chapter of Global Brigades will be traveling to [Country
Name] for one week and will be functioning like a mobile medical unit, setting up small
clinics to diagnose and treat patients at no cost. From in-take, to triage, to medical
consultations, to filling the prescriptions, we will experience the many realms of the
medical profession under the guidance of licensed medical professionals.
Please consider supporting our cause. Any gift is tax-deductible, and will make a
tremendous impact on the lives of those that we will be serving. Please see the
attached spreadsheet that lists the medications and supplies that we will need to bring
with us. [Remember to attach a list to the email or letter.] After an individual health
assessment is conducted, the medications will be dispensed under the direct
authorization of a licensed physician in the form of a signed and dated prescription.
Treatment plans and usage instructions will be carefully explained to each patient, upon
administering the medications. The medications that are donated will be used
exclusively to treat the symptoms of the patients seen in the free clinics. If there is
excess medication after completing all brigade days, the medication will be donated to
Global Brigades, to supplement future brigade clinics.
Additionally, we would greatly appreciate donations of other supplies such as
soap, toothpaste, or any hygiene products to give to each family at our health and
sanitation education workshop. Global Brigades strives to not only provide the patients
with the essential medications needed to treat their current illnesses but to also provide
them with the knowledge on how to prevent the most prevalent diseases in their
community. Each family will receive a hygiene pack so that they have access to the
tools that will aid in proper hygiene and sanitation.
As a brigade, we intend to use these medications and supplies to provide the
basic health needs that are inaccessible to many of these [Country] communities. Our

top priority is to safely transport and administer the medications to the communities that
we serve. In these harsh economic conditions, we realize our true wealth, including
good health and access to healthcare. This contrasts with the developing world that
cannot provide the most basic needs for their people. However, through volunteering
and awareness, we can show our gratitude for the privileges others do not receive. For
this reason, we immensely appreciate any donation you are able to give and want to
recognize your impact in these humanitarian efforts.
Thank you,
