Developing skills and craftsmanship by learning different techniques. Learning to appreciate cultural and historical aspects of art. Students learn to make connections with real-life and other subjects. Students also learn to develop creative and critical thinking skills. Students learn art appreciation through selfexpression. Students will meet once a week for a 30 minute periods in a five day cycle. The Art Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Fine Arts (TEKS) are guidelines used in the Athlos art curriculum. Assessment: Student evaluation is reflected in the art grade, a composite of a student’s participation and achievement in assignments and assessments. Students may be given group assignments focusing on important topics. Unexcused absences, tardiness, and lack of adequate effort will result in deductions from the participation grade. The course grade will be determined as follows: 3rd through 5th grade Grading Scale 12 Points = A+ 100-97 11 Points = A Exemplary work (90%-100% Mastery of Subject Goals) 96-93 10 Points = A- 92-90 9 Points = B+ 89-87 8 Points = B 86-83 7 Points = B- 82-80 6 Points = C+ 79-77 5 Points = C 4 Points = C- 72-70 3 Points = F 76-73 69-0 Proficient/thorough work.
