SLT 1/27/14 Introduction by Mrs. Green-Morehead Reading of previous minutes by Mrs. Bailey Faculty present – Jamila Caldwell, Kari Stranberg, Karin Scullion, Angela Cooke, Victoria Bailey, Matthew Bryan, Jennie Green-Morehead, Marilyn Osborne, Ricky Jones, Laura Smith, Christopher Knox, Stephanie Croker, Courtney Nichols Parents – Teonna Prioleau, Resonda Isler, Tomiko Evans Committee Reports Curriculum – Preparing for curriculum night on February 20th. Focus on math and literacy – make and take. Spaghetti will be served. Community Collaboration – Big focus is the 100th day of school. Will be hosting a volunteer appreciation. Social – Black history program on the 28th. Fitness – Remind grade levels to keep track of brain breaks. BYOT – Ideas for BYOT day. Goal is to increase use by 10%. Want to integrate with curriculum. How to integrate with different devices. Ten Chrome books were purchased by the school. SIP: All signatures of members present have already been obtained. In January, minor changes were made, especially in the area of science. Read to Achieve: 3rd grade NC initiative states that all students must be on grade level. BOG was administered at the beginning of the year. A score of 442 was needed at the beginning of the year to be considered efficient. If not, a portfolio must be completed for the student with documentation that they can be successful. All students will still need to complete the EOG. Tuesday, February 4th at 5:30 is the parent night for 3rd grade. Vertical planning will occur on February 6th to discuss expectations of grades 3rd - 5th. International Night: New to ROA this year Karin Scullion will meet with the curriculum committee to discuss ideas. This is to be a fun event that is educational. Students will learn about new cultures. Hasn’t been decided if it is during the evening or during the day. Grade levels will pick a country. Ideas include a scavenger hunt, parade, prizes, food, parent performances, ROA cultural facts, etc. Next Meeting: February 24, 2014
