Free Paint 4 Hackney
FRP The Paint Place, supported by Comic Relief in conjunction with The London Community Foundation,
are giving away for free 10,000 litres of reclaimed paint to community groups in Hackney.
FRP The Paint Place collects and redistributes leftover reusable paint which otherwise would have been
disposed of via incineration or landfill. Between April 2012 and March 2013, nearly 50,000 litres of paint
was reused by householders and community groups across London, and last year we assisted over 150
projects across London to brighten up their community centres, classrooms, murals and beneficiary’s
homes.
The Free Paint 4 Hackney aims to help those who are experiencing socio-economic disadvantage by
providing free reclaimed paint to organisations or community groups – no matter how big or small – who
are:
 Located or active in the London Borough of Hackney
 Seeking to brighten up a community room or space
 Supporting low-income beneficiaries in need of paint to redecorate their own home
 Delivering creative projects and activities which require paint

Irrespective of the ‘Free Paint 4 Hackney’ offer, reclaimed paint is available to all as a sustainable and low
cost alternative to buying new paint. Paint can be obtained from the FRP Paint Place shop at 2c Baker’s
Avenue, Walthamstow E17 9AW – open Tuesdays to Fridays 10am to 4pm, and Saturdays 10am to
2pm. Reclaimed paint retails from just £1 a litre, and annual membership is available to community
groups enabling further discounts on paint. Visit www.frponline.org.uk to find out more.
Terms and Conditions
1) Free reclaimed paint is only available to not-for-profit organisations or community groups requiring paint in the
London Borough of Hackney aiming to help those that are experiencing socio-economic disadvantage.
2) Free reclaimed paint is only available upon confirmation of a successful paint request application, and receipt of
an FRP voucher. This must be presented at the time of collection.
3) Organisations will need to arrange to visit FRP – The Paint Place to choose and collect free paint. Householders
can visit 2c Bakers Avenue, Walthamstow E17 9AW (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays between 10am
and 4pm; Saturdays between 10am and 2pm), Community Groups can visit Unit 7, The Sidings, Leytonstone E11
1HD (Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 10am and 4pm).
4) The free paint offer will end as of the 31st of July 2014 or when 10,000 litres have been distributed.
5) All reclaimed paint provided by FRP – The Paint Place has been donated and therefore types and colours are
subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed. We have a high demand for white emulsion paint and operate a
fair usage policy – a maximum of 20 litres of white paint is available per application subject to availability. We may
require a lead in time to prepare paint order for specific colours and types of paint.
6) Free reclaimed paint must only be used for the purposes stated in the original request form, and is not for resale.
7) Groups receiving free paint agree to details of their project being used for monitoring and promotional purposes,
including in press releases and online promotion.
