Kerry’s presentation included popular terminology, history, statistics, what is a wiki, editing,
copyright, Wikipedia projects and Wikipedia for local history.
Martin Hunt (Redland City Council) - Heritage Register





There is no demolition control on locally listed properties
Redland Shire uses the same criteria as the State Heritage Register, but applied at a
local rather than state level (i.e. the significance is local rather than state-wide)
Heritage registers are not yet comprehensive and items and places of significance
are vulnerable to a high rate of development
There are 64 properties are on the current heritage register
New sites are added as they are identified

WW1 - Qlder on the belt index - can now be found again, WW1 pictures in the Qlder
being indexed. Linking to things as much as possible especially things that are free.
Two free webcasts delivered recently

o Births, deaths and marriages
Family History month - visited Caloundra and the Genealogical Society of
Queensland for a talk
Working on 2 reels of Deaths at sea - records of deaths recorded on ships that
reached Australia 1847 - 1860s.
