Main Aims of the Post
The post holder will:
Provide management and leadership for psychological therapies (including
the organisation’s work in relation to the criminal justice field) within charity
ensuring that they are delivered within our ethos of self help and community
participation. The post holder will be expected to utilise a performance
approach to ensure that we are at the forefront of innovation whilst
delivering first class services.
The successful candidate must have significant experience of managing primary care
mental health services within a tight performance framework.
Main duties





To provide line management of key service managers with the Psychological
Therapies Department, ensuring that there is a framework in place for staff to
be appropriately supported, skilled and trained to deliver the service and
provide supervision.
To oversee the organisations work in relation to Criminal Justice, and provide
supervision for the manager of the Positive Alternatives Department
To oversee financial management of the services’ budget.
To lead on management and contract reporting requirements of all service
contracts.
To lead on the strategic development of the department



















To ensure that a robust performance framework is in place to monitor and
improve performance (where required) in order to achieve internal and
external targets within the department
In conjunction with the informatics manager and other service managers, to
ensure the provision of regular performance reports for internal and external
purposes
To lead on the implementation of new initiatives and expansion of services
specifically focussing on (but not limited to) Psychological Therapies and SHS’
criminal justice field service provision
To identify and secure (working with Chief Officer and independently) new
opportunities to expand service provision within Psychological Therapies and
the criminal justice field.
To facilitate innovation and improvement in existing services
To develop and implement the use of new technologies for therapy provision
To ensure that standard operating procedures are in place and are adhered
to across the department.
To assist with the development and writing of business cases and tenders for
new services as required.
To lead on recruitment for department, working with service managers and
with the Leadership Team to develop and implement workforce plans to meet
current and future needs of the services.
To ensure services are delivered in the most efficient and effective manner.
To work closely with clinical lead to ensure services adhere to external clinical
standards set by professional bodies and other relevant stakeholders.
To work with clinical lead to ensure that effective risk management and
monitoring practices are embedded across the department.
To work with the clinical lead to ensure to ensure that clinical governance
arrangements are in place to cover all of the clinical activity
To work with other managers to ensure that a comprehensive menu of
service provision is available across each of the localities.
To represent the organisation at meetings with commissioners and other
external stakeholders.
To be an escalation point for client complaints with the department
To attend Senior Management/Leadership Team meetings.
To contribute to the continued development of the organisation’s policies and
procedures
To contribute to the charity’s continued growth – including participating in the
development and implementation of the overall business plan; working with
the Chief Officer to expand the Psychological Therapies department.
