LIFE TIME MID-ATLANTIC 2015 BARRACUDAS
Life Time Mid-Atlantic (LMAC) would like to welcome all new and returning swimmers and families to our summer swim team
program, The Barracudas. We are excited to start the seventh season of The Barracudas, offering the opportunity for our members
ages 18 and under to swim in a summer league program. Our team is comprised of members from the Centerville, Fairfax, Loudoun,
and Reston, Life Time locations.
The Life Time Mid-Atlantic, Barracudas, summer swim program operates under the following five principles:
 FUN: Barracudas will work hard, be positive, try their best, & have FUN!
 TECHNIQUE: Barracudas working to improve stroke mechanics
 DEDICATION: Barracudas maintaining:
o a loyalty to practice
o a drive to accomplish personal and team goals
 HEART: Barracudas facing challenges with positive energy
 SPIRIT: Barracudas supporting each other in word and deed
We request that swimmers not currently on our Life Time Mid-Atlantic USA Swimming try-out for the swim team. Try-outs will begin
Monday, February 16th and are held Monday through Thursday 4:30P-5:00P and Saturday 10:15-10:45A. To become a Life Time
Barracuda, swimmers ages 8 and under must be able to complete at least one 25 meter length of freestyle, backstroke, and kick
using a kickboard. Swimmers ages 9 and older must be able to complete at least one 25 meter length of freestyle, backstroke, and
kick using a kickboard. Additionally, 9 and older swimmers should have an understanding of both breaststroke and butterfly.
The Barracudas are a competitive summer swim team that participates in the Old Dominion Swim League (ODSL). ODSL is a
developmental league with a primary focus of growing a love for swimming in young swimmers. There are 28 swim teams and over a
thousand families that participate in the ODSL.
The Life Time Barracudas participate in swim meets on both Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Home swim meets are
hosted at Life Time Athletic Loudoun; away meets are hosted at other local swim clubs. We understand that there may be new swim
families this season; therefore, we want to make sure everyone understands the requirements of our swim team.
1. Swimmers are required to attend at least two practices per week. The summer swim season is short. This will ensure their
ability to participate in swim meets and to grow as a swimmer.
2. Swim practices run four days a week. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. We offer practice times in both the morning
and evening. Swimmers are encouraged to practice all four days.
3. Swimmers must participate in at least two swim meets for the summer season. We understand summer is vacation time;
however, swim meets help swimmers set goals and stay focused.
4. Every family is required to volunteer at time trials as well as four swim meets. Swim meets cannot happen without many
volunteers. Getting involved at the meets not only makes parents feel more a part of the team, but it also helps pass the
time.
a. Time trials will be held Saturday, June 13th.
b. There are 8 dual meets during summer swim season. (3-4 away meets and 4 home meets)
c. Divisional Meet will be held Saturday, July 25th.
