Background
World Health Organization's (WHO's) definition of "health”; The most famous modern
definition of health was created during a Preamble to the Constitution of the World Health
Organization as adopted by the International Health Conference, New York, 19-22 June, 1946;
signed on 22 July 1946 by the representatives of 61 States (Official Records of the World Health
Organization, no. 2, p. 100) and entered into force on 7 April 1948.
"Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the
absence of disease or infirmity."
The definition has not been amended since 1948, therefore it is widely criticized (Martin 1991;
Micka 1973; Smith 1990; and The Lancet 2009). During the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion
in 1986, the WHO said that health is:
"A resource for everyday life, not the objective of living. Health is a positive concept
emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities."
The Lancet states that "health is not a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being.
Neither is it "merely the absence of disease or infirmity". The article says "the WHO definitions
of health will not do in an era marked by new understandings of disease at molecular, individual,
and societal levels" (The Lancet 2009). The word “health” is so entrenched in our culture. Do we
make up a new word? String together old words with new meaning?.
Lissa R. ( 2011) says :
So clearly, while physical and mental health are important, they’re not enough. Whole
health is way bigger than that. If we’re going to join together to transform the world
of health care, if we really want to help people heal from the core, rather than just
slapping a Band-Aid on something, we need to expand the definition of health.

Defining health is essential not only to assure the credibility and quality of education but also it
is essential in planning and developing poplar health care services. The above briefly literature
review approve the need for expanding and redefining health. While we are keeping use the
WHO definition with its three limited dimensions, we teach wide aspects of health related
dimensions, factors and boundaries. As a result of this limit, the educationists, researchers and
practitioners tend to use other correlated terms such as 'holistic and wellness" that have broad
definitions and boundaries.
Research Aim and Questions
The researcher long experiential learning with teaching for quality of health, and the above brief
literature called to survey my frequently teaching inquiries regarding health and healthful life.
Starting with these major exploring questions:
1) What Does Health Mean
2) Are You Satisfy With WHO definition.
Methodology
As a first step of a long health education and holistic health innovation project used the major
common five health philosophies 'medics, behavioral, social, humanist and perfect" as general
theoretical framework (Johali 2011). This study designed its philosophical research approach and
starting to explore health meanings and satisfactions amongst the global researchers and experts
in thewww.linkedin.com the most popular professional and academic electronic site. Following
Roger (2013) advise that 'LinkedIn Polls are a helpful free tool offered by the professional social
network to facilitate market research, industry polls, and other types of surveys, the members can
create up to 10 free polls at a time, each with one question and up to five possible answers'..All
the two research questions used the most common research scale the five scales as follow:.

LinkedIn professional experts health professionals and non health professionals are the study
population. Data analysis is ongoing using LinkedIn advanced professional analysis tool, plus the
most common statistical tests.
Results
As it is expected, the results show that half of the participants are not satisfy with WHO
definition of health and the most surprise that 40% of them are just looking for 'medics' health
the first choice.
Conclusion and Recommendation
This study achieved its major aim as first step to redefining health and innovating ideal holistic
health by which we can assure quality of every individual health and healthcare. To overcome
its limit with study population, it is ended with supportive long vision recommendations, to
conduct more national and international surveys that can lead to comprehensive global definition
of health cover all health related dimensions and boundaries not just physical, mental and social.
