o Will have to talk about representing us professionally

Sigma Alpha Alumni Meeting
January 12, 2016
Called to order at 4:00pm
Professional Development Assistance
 set potential dates for spring 2016 seminars with alumni
 possible topics:
o professional dress (interactive)
o getting a job in MD agriculture (Jess Armacost – maybe fall 2016)
 expecting twins,
 most likely will not be available for spring, maybe in the fall
o panel on applying to grad school and non grad school options
 4 of the 5 they have careers in AG
 would be willing to do the panel with our seniors
 planning on the march 29th professional event
 members for panel will have been accepted/still in vet school
o cover letters interviews do’s or don’t’s of resumes and interviews
Philanthropy assistance
 agsploration curriculum and resource kits for AG in the classroom
o 24 lesson curriculum STEM/Ag based lessons for middle school aged kids
o mostly hands on experience in the lessons
o free curriculum online
o the kits are full of the materials for the curriculums
Financial assistance
 alumni-supported mini-grants for specific active chapter projects
 can give the AG magnets to sell at $3 a piece
 they have a gotten money from AG day
 want to support everyone or our initiatives
o potentially mini grants
o money they make from AG day minus the operating expenses will be available to
us
o practice for writing a grant/coming up with a budget
o will put the information for us later this month
o possible ideas
 financial support for leadership seminar
 could also look into using the money for a formal
 could use for retreat
o not really against any idea as long as it supports us
Ag day events
 propose to combine actives’ activities with the college and bring all supplies
 actives will manage sign-ups and provide staffing all day
 made between 5 and 6 hundred dollars per year
 would give us 50% of the profit
 2 people minimum at the table
 we can move our table over to theirs
Other ways alumni can support actives
 welcome letter to Dr. Beyrouty (new dean) – in partnership with active sisters
 continue to attend senior sendoff at last meeting of fall and spring semesters
o want to do a blurb about the girls who graduated, pictures too
o we will keep inviting them
 propose annual meeting between active chapter exec board and alumni officers (January)
o work on scheduling meeting per semester (August and January)

 Summer AG tours (winery or brewery tour, Clark’s farm)
