Experience Design (Fashion, Product Design, Lifestyle & Design, Interior design) MINWDKEXP01 Students learn how to design the whole experience of a concept/idea: context, target, model, functionality and presentation/communication. Concrete, physical solutions for real products. Under an umbrella theme for the year/semester, each student can formulate his/her own response to the assignment, which may result in fashion/textile products, product design or interior designs. Courses: Collection & Series (WDKCOL051M). Research and development of a collection (series of cohesive) of products. The results can be clothing, accessories, textiles, objects or products that make innovative use of materials and techniques. You are expected to formulate your own research focus and interest. 3D Spatial Design (WDKSPD051M). In a time of mass- consumption and relative riches, value is no longer determined by physical aspects such as form, function and material, but rather by social aspects such as emotion, image, and interaction. This course focuses on the complete design experience: brand, user, spatial, interactive & interior design. The following minors are bilingual and available for international students: 2. Visualizing Data (Graphic design, Illustration, Fine Art, Advertising, Animation, Audiovisual Design) MINWDKDAT01 The minor Visualizing Data focuses on the possibilities of the current new media, for your own field, as well as outside. How to design for these dynamic, real-time media? How do you visualize content that is changing continuously? How to design media which you can constantly change as a user? A new role for today's designer is to visualize invisible digital data. Courses: Data Design (WDKDAD051M) is about access and visualization of (dynamic) data. The focus is on designing, organizing and contextualising large amounts of data and information. You also learn to design interfaces Typography & Data (WDKTYP051M) The current digital media and culture has broadened the field of typography. In addition to print, text appears on eReaders, iPhones or mobile phones. 3. Narration & Production (Fine Art, Teacher Training, Illustration, Graphic Design) MINWDKNPR01 Narration & Production discusses the traditional narrative and image, visual resources which can be installed. These are specializations in the field of visual imagery with emphasis on technical materialization. - You will find artistic depth within a process in which material and technique play a guiding role; - Apply your imagination to narrative principles; - In a team you realize external exhibitions and / or publications of the production. Public Domain (Advertising, Fine Art, Teacher Training, Graphic Design, Lifestyle) MINWDKPUB01 Art & the City explores the function of art in public spaces and the way public space influences art. The minor revolves specifically around the interaction between art and audience. In an experimental way research will be done about how art can be made accessible to specific target groups Courses: Art & the City (WDKA&C051M) Because Art & the City works with actual questions from the city assignment and projects differ per period. It may involve the redesigning of a public area, temporary presence and influence, areas of strategy and concept development on social issues. Art & Mediating (WDKA&M051M) Art & Mediating specifically focuses on the gap between art and audience. The student is the intermediary between them and comes up with projects and products that can bridge the gap. The following minors are in Dutch. Commerce & Industry MINWDKCOM01 Working for the mass production industries in which specific knowledge and skills in production processes, business strategies, corporate identities, marketing and commerce are important, is central to this programme Courses: AdCom (WDKADC051M): devising and implementing campaigns Commercial Photography (WDKCPH051M): Photography as often required for advertising campaigns Forcasting & Trends (WDKFOR051M): The student is able to develop a forecast of a future era, both the changes in the appearance image of products and situations, and changes in consumer behaviour and is capable of spotting trends and to make a presentation visual. Copywriting (WDKCOP063M): In this minor you will work with text and image in order to create visual communication. The programme centers around the profession of Copywriting and its necessary skills. Copywriting and the practice of a creative team intersect in the areas of marketing and communication. The designer and copywriter are a creative team and work closely together. 6. Dynamc identities MINWDKDYN01 The minor Dynamic Identities focuses on the changing identities of people, groups, brands, companies and cities worldwide. Rotterdam and its inhabitants, characterized by great social, cultural, economic, political and physical differences are source of inspiration of this minor. Courses: Identity (WDKIDT051M). Identity as 'I', as 'brand', 'place', 'trend', 'consistency' and in practice: recognition, personality, brand value, contextuality New Urban Culture (WDKNUC051M). Where Identity emphasise on people and identity, this minor will be more focussing on people and the (urban) environment. Trends in pop culture, visual culture and street culture. 7. Design & Critical Communication MINWDKDES01 The relationships between the textual and the visual domain. Infographics, books, magazines, products, web and digital applications, films, exhibitions and lectures. How to put your theory and textual information in a visual design? Courses: Redactioneel ontwerpen (WDKRED051M) In Editorial Design you learn to analyse complex information, to weigh and to make it accessible to others. You will also learn to incorporate your own vision as an author. The emphasis is on a practical approach Design and Thought (WDKTAD051M) Design as a critical resource of visual communication and as a narrative 8. Narration & Lens-Based Media MINWDKNAR01 Photography and moving image is a coherent field. Internet and mobile media are being used as a vehicle for moving and still images. When stories are told, constructed or transferred, positions are determined and the debate is being fed Courses: 3D Digital moving image (WDKDMI051M): In this minor you work with Maya, 3d software program and learn to develop, produce and realize 3d products: game assets, 3d character modules that can be used for animation or advertisement, and 3d interior visualizations. Sound & Image (WDKSIM051M). The designing of sound design (used in websites, DVDs and games, for motion graphics, corporate films, advertising, dance and theater, etc.) Photography & Story (WDKPHO051M)To learn how to see and use photography as an independent part of the visual communication and fine art Motion Graphics (WDKMGR051M).
