11 August 2015 ATTENTION: CLUB PRESIDENT SUBJECT: 2015 - 2016 YOUTH OF THE YEAR PROGRAM (Please note change from Quest to Program) I would like to introduce myself, my name is Coral Sweeney and I am the 201Q4 District Chairman for Youth of the Year, 2015-2016. I am hoping that by this stage, your Club has appointed a Youth Of The Year Chairman for this Lions’ year. I am confident that your Club will enjoy your involvement and the students’ achievements in the Lions’ Youth of the Year Quest within your community. To your Club’s Lions’ Youth Of The Year Chairman: Yes, it’s the time of year to begin planning for the 2015 - 2016 Youth of the Year Program. Please ensure that you contact the schools in your community as soon as possible - – preferably before the end of Term 3 which for State Schools is Friday, 18th September, 2015. This may enable them to slot our YOTY Quest program into their curriculum in the hope that all Clubs’ judging can be finalised by the end of November, prior to the Year 11 end of year. There are still a couple of weeks after recommencement of school, but the students may not be too keen to be pressured quite so early in their final year. Please note the committee with Lions members and our sponsor National Bank agreed to lower the entry age to 15years as at the 30 June, 2009. This is still effective for the 2015-2016 year. This long standing Lions’ Project is the most prestigious of our Youth programs on our Lions’ calendar. We seek your Club’s involvement in assisting your youth to prepare themselves for the future. If your Club has never participated in this Program, or not participated for several years I ask you to please reconsider. The youth of your Community will appreciate your involvement in assisting them to become tomorrow’s leaders. Should you require more information I recommend that you visit the Lions Website www.lionsclubs.org.au/yoty or contact me phone (H) 41553483 or by email: lioncoral@bigpond.com The Youth of the Year Manual (Revision date 11 June, 2015) is available if requested or can be downloaded from the internet. A copy of this manual should be passed on from year to year to the Club Chairman. Relevant updated pages will be replaced if requested. I can’t stress enough the need to read this manual, even if you have done this job before as there are now big penalties in the public speaking section. Please ensure that the enclosed entry form is returned to me before the 20th September. This will allow me time to prepare kits for distribution at our District Convention in Bundaberg on the 23th – 24th – 25th October, 2015. Would you please indicate if there will be someone able to collect your kit at Ubobo. Unfortunately I will be overseas from 28th September to 4th November. I will endeavour to have kits at Convention. By doing this it will save Cabinet money and the necessity of my posting these to your Club.
