A pie at the 12th Annual American Pie Council (APC) Great American Pie Festival, of course! To kick off this year’s festivities, Legendary Baking, a national bakery that specializes in the art of pie, will once again construct a largerthan-life pie in front of a live audience. Made with the bakery’s famous crust, fresh fruit and other delectable ingredients, this edible creation is sure to be any pie lover’s dream come true. Legendary Baking’s Research and Development Team along with Mary Pint, who is recognized nationally as the “Pie Lady,” will artfully construct the giant pie as the audience watches while listening to the Jazz Chefs. The assembly will be from 11:10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EDT on Saturday, April 27, at Lakeside Park in Celebration, Florida. The pie will be available to taste for free while supplies last, and donations to Second Harvest food bank will be also be accepted. The 12th Annual APC's Great American Pie Festival will turn the town into the Pie Capital of the World for two days, celebrating bakers, chefs and tasters alike. Thousands of people come together to revel in the decadent world of pie and enjoy the sweet offerings from bakeries around the country. The festival includes seminars, demonstrations, tastings, crafts, decorating contests and plenty of other pie-centric activities. Legendary Baking, sponsor of the demonstration stage, will also participate in the commercial pie competition, where it has previously won more than 400 blue ribbons since 1997. Festival attendees can sample Legendary Baking’s awardwinning pies in the Never-Ending Pie Buffet and share their thoughts on pie at the Legendary Baking tent. “We are always thrilled to come share our passion for pie among people who love premium desserts as much as we do,” says Mark Van Iwaarden, Director of Marketing at Legendary Baking. “This festival does such a great job at showcasing the art and science of pie, recognizing amateur and professional bakers everywhere for the work they put into every bite.” So what is necessary to make a four-foot wide, 202-pound pie? By the time this edible creation is complete, Legendary Baking’s team will use a total of: 90 pounds of fresh-capped strawberries, 28 pounds of Supreme filling, 24 pounds of Ganache, 20 pounds of chocolate cookie gram, 20 pounds of strawberry glaze, 10 pounds of fresh blueberries, and 10 pounds of whipped cream.
