Program dates:
May 141 to June 122, 2016

program will begin upon pick-up at the international airport in Zagreb, Croatia, on
May 15. Participants are asked to arrive at the Zagreb airport no later than 1pm on the 15th.
Therefore, students should depart the U.S. on May 14, normally on one of the many
overnight flights to Europe. Travel advice and tips will be provided.

program will end at the Zagreb airport on June 12.
Program fee:
The program fee of $2,400.00 covers all lodging, meals, ground travel within Croatia, and
other required project expenses. It does not include airfare to Croatia, travel insurance,
tuition/fees, or any additional spending money (souvenirs, coffee shops, etc.).
Application Deadline and Review Timeline:
Review of applications will begin in mid January and continue until all slots are filled.
However, for full consideration, it is important to have your application in prior to
February 15, 2016.
All applicants for the program will undergo a review process (see application below),
including verification of minimum GPA and academic requirements. You will be notified of
your acceptance to the program via email. If approved, you will receive an email granting
you permission to participate in the program. You will then be instructed to contact CED
for enrollment into the course. Once enrolled, your account will be billed for the program
fee (plus corresponding tuition for the course).
Program Requirements:
To participate in the 2016 UMaine Archaeological Field School in Croatia, you must have
completed at least one semester of college-level instruction before departure, be in good
academic standing with the university, and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Participants are
also required to register for ANT477-Field Research in Archaeology (Croatia) for the
Summer 2016 term.
