DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES-PREPARATION CLASS
LISTENING & SPEAKING (1st Term – Beginner+Elementary)
In this lesson, listening and speaking are integrated in a way which can help the students to develop their
listening (comprehension) and speaking (production) skills, and to motivate, develop and enhance the student’s
ability to speak and listen to the target language to communicate. In the lesson, the students are provided
various listening materials and writing activities, communication-oriented speaking such as dialogues and
discussions, individual presentations and other interactive tasks; formal and informal language; informative
presentations; supra-segmental features (pitch, stress and intonation); use of audiovisual aids (power point,
posters) and techniques. These all aim to enable them to express themselves by speaking. They begin with
simple functions and proceed to further functions. The book mainly targets to improve the students’ oral skills.
There are various dialogues for the students. Also, the lesson is supported with different materials, CDs and
DVDs, and audio materials, and so on. The lesson sometimes provides some grammar and vocabulary revision,
which helps the students remember some key points for their speaking. The students take the lesson 3 hours a
