RULES AND REGULATIONS – 2013/2014
TUITION
Tuition runs on the season from September to June with the money due at the first of every month. Tuition remains the same each month
regardless of the number of classes in a month as it averages to four weeks per month for the entire dance season. There are no refunds for
missed classes or deductions for holidays. If you choose to discontinue class you must notify the studio by phone or email.
Checks should be made payable to Russell’s Dance & Baton. All payments should be put in an envelope with your child’s name on it and
class so you will get credit for it. There will be a $25.00 fee for any returned checks and a $10.00 late fee for any tuition payments due after
the 15th of the month. All fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Anyone more than two weeks late on their tuition payment will be
asked to sit and watch their class until there balance is paid in full.
REGISTRATION
There is a $25.00 registration fee per student or a $35.00 registration fee per family. Team members, there is a $50.00 registration fee. The
registration fee must be paid with your completed form. There are no refunds for registration fees.
CLASSES
The Russell’s have the right to cancel or change class times due to the enrollment. If your child has missed one month of dance and tuition
has not been paid we reserve the right to give their spot away to another child on our waiting list. If you have any concerns or questions
about your child's class during the year please bring it to Mrs. Russell’s attention via email or phone. Our classes run back to back so we
need to do our best to start and end each class on time.
Please do not let your child run around the studio or the waiting room. When it is class time the instructor will come out and get all the
students.
WAITING ROOM
There are no parents allowed in the studio during class time. This is so your child and their instructor have each other's undivided
attention. If you need to stay please have the utmost respect for students and the staff and for all the hard work they do. If you have a
question for the teacher or pay tuition please do not do it during class. The best time is to call Mrs. Russell during the morning hours. Any
negative behavior or talk is unacceptable at the studios, parades, performances, and competitions. If this happens the student and parent will
not be asked to return.
Please make sure to clean up after yourself and any smaller children that you have waiting during class.
SHOES
You can purchase dance shoes at Definitely Dance in Exton. Listed below is the type of shoe your child will need. If you have any questions
please call or ask your child’s teacher.
Ballet – pink ballet slippers (not slippers)
Jazz – tan slip on jazz shoes
Tap – black tie tap shoe
Hip Hop – black jazz sneakers
Baton – tan slip on jazz shoes
Team Members – tan slip on jazz shoes and black jazz sneakers
ATTIRE
The Russell’s Dance & Baton Studio is a performing arts school. Proper dance attire is mandatory. You can purchase clothing and dance
shoes at Definitely Dance in Exton.
Ballet – pink or black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers, skirts are optional
Jazz – leotard or tank top, capris or shorts, jazz shoes
Tap – leotard or tank top, capris or shorts, tights, tap shoes
Hip Hop – leotard or tank top, capris or shorts or pants, tights, jazz shoes
Baton – dance clothes, jazz shoes
Team – all black, jazz shoes
Please do not wear anything baggy, jeans, or big sweat clothes. Also do not wear any jewelry.
If your child is not dress properly for class, the teacher has the right to ask the child to sit out of class
BATONS
Batons can be purchased thru Mrs. Russell at a cost of $25.00 (class) and $30.00 (team). Each student must have their own baton. Team
members need to have three batons. Please put your child’s name on the end cap because the Russell’s are not responsible for lost batons
HAIR
Dance and baton involves the head, loose hair is distracting to the student and teacher. It is a hazard to the class when hair is in the dancers or
twirlers line of vision while moving.
Dancers – hair in a bun or ponytail of the face
Ballet Dancers – hair in a bun
Baton – hair in a bun or ponytail of the face
Team – must be in a bun
COSTUMES
Costumes are for the year end recital which is held in June. Each costume is $80.00 per costume per class including tights. Also if your child
is in multiple classes, they will receive a costume for every class.
A costume deposit of $25.00 per class is due by November 1, 2013. For example if your child is in a dance class and a twirling class, his/her
deposit would be $50.00. Costume deposits are non-refundable. The remaining balance will be due by February 15, 2014. The balance is
non-refundable.
When turning in your costume deposit, please put your child’s measurements with the payment.
Prices may differ for team costumes. All team members must have the warm-up suit, t-shirt, and team bag.
PARADES/PERFORMANCES
We encourage all of our students to participate in the parades and performances. There is a sweatshirt that needs to be purchased to be able to
participate. The fee is $50.00. This is due before parade season starts.
Any negative behavior or talk is unacceptable at the studios, parades, performances, and competitions. If this happens the student and parent
will not be asked to return.

FOOD & DRINKS
Food, drinks, and gum are NOT allowed in the studio at anytime.
If your child gets a treat from the teacher, please wait until your child is done classes to eat it.
WEATHER CONDITIONS
In the event of severe weather conditions, please call the studio at 610-857-9435 after 3:00 pm. You will not receive a phone call because
there is many students to call so please call the studio number
