Course Code: HU-511 Course Name: Principles & Practices of Management Contacts: 3 hours/week Credits: 2 points COURSE OUTCOME At the end of this course, the incumbent will be able to: CO HU 511.1 HU 511. Students will be able to know the evolution of management thoughts – pre & post scientific era and will be able to define the nature, importance of management as science or art. Students will also be able to know the functions of manager, ethics in managing and social responsibility of managers. The incumbent would develop the ability to function effectively as an individual, and as a team member or leader in diverse portfolios and in multi-disciplinary settings. HU 511.2 Students will be able to design steps in planning e.g. operational, tactical and strategic planning and to develop Controlling- concept, Planning- control relationship, process of control, human response to control. HU 511.3 Students will be able to design decision making framework under Certainty and Uncertainty and apply it for improving the productivity of the organization. Students will also be able to develop Organizing – concept, nature and process of organizing, authority and responsibility, delegation and empowerment for increasing the effective functioning of the management. HU 511.4 Students will be able to learn the concept of Manpower planning, Job design, recruitment & selection, training and development. Develop performance appraisal system adhering the realistic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety issues of the employees. Students will be able to discuss the effectiveness of the theory of motivation to the employees in order to run the organization effectively. HU 511.5 Students will be able to define leadership and its role to compete globally. Students also will be able to design, develop and devise the effective Communication system according to the specific need of the organization. HU 511.6 Students will be able to discuss the role of financial management and to assess its impact on increasing the competitiveness of the organization. Students will be able to design and develop the functions of Marketing in order to increase Sales revenue through sales Promotion.
