Each raised pure [true] breeding sheep. Fences and grazing ranges were meticulously maintained. Characteristics of the breed include Black vs white wool. And Long vs short stranded wool. Black wool was prized for making coats and furniture and carpets. White wool was prized for making sweaters. In this manner, both ranchers did not compete for the same markets and received maximum price for their wool. Both shepherds were bachelors. Both suddenly died mysteriously on the same day. By the time that other villagers noticed, both flocks had co-mingled. In the following Spring, there were several new lambs, the F1 generation of the co-mingle. It appeared that some were O’Doherty bred, some were O’Sullivan bred and many seemed to be all mixed up. It was obvious to the descendant shepherds that a di-hybrid cross had taken place among the sheep. It was also obvious that the genes were not completely dominant. O’Doherty and O’Sullivan were probably aware of this fact and therefore had maintained close control over the mating habits of the original flocks. Fill in the following tables and Charts of expected genotypes and phenotypes for the F1 generation. See XL Spreadsheet FINAL LAB EXAM GENETICS.
